Easy one for me ..... I prefer the original.
I'm somewhat of a fan of ID's early FPS games (Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, Heretic, Quake etc.)

There's something that really looks cool about the original Wolfenstein 3D. Maybe I'm looking through rose tinted glasses again, but I prefer the original by far.

All those new flashy HD effects can't compete against a full splattered red screen due to a point-black range shoot and the incredible terror I felt while experiencing it.

Definitely the original.
Such a revolutionary game, but one that still plays well today....

Flashy graphics do not always make for a great game experience!

Original. Having seen it running on a friends pc i was hooked. Rediscovered the magic with the Jaguar version many years later. Mecha-Hitler as a boss takes some beating. Also the gutteral german shouts, the seeming constant sound of doors opening/closing.So many great memories.

I have to go with the update on this one. For all its technical marvel at the time, the old Wolfy has't aged well at all. Had it been Doom on the other hand, I'd go with the original there.

I played the new version today and have to say I'm tempted to buy it. However, the original version wins this poll for me. A decision dictated by nostalgia and STEAM :)

Never been a fan of the original and the new one's only just passable.

Not played the new one yet , but Return To Castle Wolfenstein was a thing of beauty . and in my opinion a far more playable game than the original. It was the little things that made it such a great game , with great attention to detail. Superb storyline with you battling supernatural-dabbling Nazis , and it had some great set pieces. Seeing Nazi paratroopers gently gliding down to earth left the player gaping in wonder - and soon regretting not shooting them down when they come hunting with you as the prey.

Funny you shoul mention that, Im quite tempted to pick up the new one, and was thinking about playing RTCW the other night. I do have a soft spot for the original, but I feel that the maps were difficult to navigate sometimes.

Gotta go with the new one. The original has it's place in history and all, but the lack of a camera bob makes me feel like I'm controlling a tub of butter.

I played Doom before I played the original Wolfenstein 3D. Never had any attachment to Wolfenstein as a result.

Can't vote on this as I haven't played the new version yet, but I echo the comments about RTCW - brilliant game.

Thought the original one was a bit pants all those years ago - so no way would I go back to that. The new Wolfenstein on the other hand is bloody fantastic. The best of the series though is RTCW.

Return to Castle Wolfenstein on PC is definitely my fave also, not on the poll though!
