Poll: Favourite Retro Gamer cover - (round 2) poll closed

This is round two of my poll to celebrate my thousandth post (or so it was at the original time of writing)

As the poll will only support ten covers at a time I originally chose ten which I particularly liked, but following SirClive's suggestion I'm now running this in rounds; the winner and runner-up of each round will make it into a Grand Final poll.

I like the Street FIgher cover the most ..... closely followed by the SNES cover.

This was a two-way split between the Speccy and Mortal Kombat for me; the Speccy was such an important part of my childhood / early teenage years; Mortal Kombat was a defining game at an important time in my adult life.

I'm not a great fan of the covers featuring photographs of hardware, but the Speccy picture is lifted beyond the ordinary for me through the interesting angle and the moody, atmospheric background wash.

[edit] I've just noticed for the first time that the Snes cover writes 'SNESational' - I always read it as plain 'sensational', which is odd as I'm a fan of puns.

Personally I find the Mortal Kombat cover very striking, but I voted for the Speccy as a) I own one, and b) it does look particularly good from that angle.

Not a weak cover in the bunch. Yes, most of them are just photograph covers but they are very well-done.

I ended up voting for the Dreamcast cover though it was a really tough choice over Street Fighter, the SNES, and Sonic. Really, all excellent covers. In the end, I voted for the Dreamcast one because I really like the design and am partial to that particular issue since a post of mine got featured in it
