Does RG need a comic strip?

Post by paranoid marvin » Mon Jul 28, 2008 5:03 pm

Just like with many of our old favourite mags , would we like to see a strip in RG each month? Could be topical , or a running story ; could be half a page , or just a a few inches at the bottom of one of the regular pages.

I for one would love RG to have it's own serial , perhaps a 'day in the life' type of story at RG Towers , or perhaps a fictional original character - or maybe even an old favourite like Jetman or Thing

What does everyone else think?

I like the idea, but I suspect it won't be practical.

A RG Comic Strip featuring the RG Staff would be very nice.

Bring back Terminal Man! Any excuse for more Olly Frey artwork.

would be great to see some original frey work , but I guess the best we could expect would be a re-production of his work from Crash.
I don't think that the quality of the artwork is a pre-requisite , but an entertaining story obviously is

Mm. I think the chances of Oli ever finishing Terminal Man are roughly a big fat zero.

I wouldn't mind if it's done in a manga style?

If it was going to happen, my preference would be for a topical/satirical style strip poking fun at gaming...

It would depend almost totally on the quality of the comic strip. Something like the Dork Tower comics that cater to the other type of gamer would be most welcome. It delas with the type of personalities that obsessions like those attract and they're hilarious if you "get" them. Something like Penny Arcade, nah, not really. Too sarcastic and clever for its own good, doesn't really fit the vibe of Retro Gamer. Dunno what Terminal Man is. A quick Google gives me nothing but this Michael Crichton book.

Personally wouldn't give a rats ass either way. Could be a laugh though.

Terminal Man was a strip drawn by Olly Frey that featured in classic Speccy magazine 'Crash'

Thanks for that!

...it's a serious-story strip? Wow, totally not what I was thinking of. Also not really something I'd like to see in Retro Gamer, even though Terminal Man itself looks pretty neat.
