Half-Life 2 seems too new to be in the mag, perhaps it still holds up well today.
Heh, I'm reading back issues from 2006/2007 right now. And they treat N64 as retro then. HL2 came out in 2004, 13 years ago. N64 was "active" from 1996 to 2000ish. I think we old guys need to get new glasses.
Ive been buying RG since the Live Publishing days. It was the first mag I ever saw that prints indepth articles about games that are instantly recognisable as "games" rather than what I would call todays modern games as "interactive entertainment". HF2 and similar well designed 3D titles seem to mark the time they changed from being a game to being entertainment. The HF2 making of would not look out of place in an issue of todays modern magazines.

I would have had a Nebulus or Alien Breed cover! But this issue is jam packed with "games" with only HF2 breaking up a bumper retro issue.

I'm off to look for my slippers and my flat cap! ;)

I can't read half the Imagine article in my copy of the mag. Some pages ok but others have a darker blue background and all the white text is blurred. Like looking at it without glasses on :(
My copy seems ok but seen this happen on occasion with black background & white text. It looks like the printers smudged all the text into a melted blur.

The Star Wars article was a little but not too tricky to read as the white text was printed on a white starfield.

mine is the same, was tempted to send it back, it's a disgrace it has been passed fit for sale, do they even have a QA department?

A shame really, as looks like a good piece and Martyn Carroll is always worth a read.

The Star Wars article is also headache inducing but I think that's down to the design rather than a printing smudge.

Unfortunately the printing of the magazine is completely out of our hands. It might be worth contacting customer service if you're having issues.

I've been moaning about this, along with paper quality for ages. I understand that the RG team are not responsible for printing but surely you can't be happy to have all of your hard work writing words and creating artwork ruined by shoddy printing?

Must agree with the printing, looks like there may have been some error as a few pages in a few articles are difficult to read. Tbh I think the problem with the Star Wars article is (as has been mentioned) not a printing error but the choice of using white text on a semi-white background.

It might look good, but not much use if it can't be read?

We won't be using Reader Revivals going forward, we simply don't get enough new submissions.

Thank you.

There will be a "DVD extras" thread later this week, featuring more of the interviews.
That's when I have time after finishing my next article for issue 170...

Oh, just want to add I enjoyed Darran's piece on the new Fire Emblem (remake). It's a series I've not played but have always been intrigued by.

Cant agree with that, we just dont realise how fast time has gone.

Someone said Half Life 2 was 13 years ago ! First issue of RG was 2004, 13 years before that it was 1991, but i doubt anyone would have thought it was weird if the mag featured consoles/handhelds after that date back then. I mean the gameboy colour was launched (had to check) 1998 but it would be weird if it wasnt in RG until say 2011 (due to being 13 years later)

Its just us old farts not thinking its retro whereas some younger lad probably thinks it is as 13 years ago he might have been 10 etc

Agreed. I stupidly paid £70 for it a year or so back and it was worth every penny. I have every western released game in the series so far :)
