Re: Rob Hubbard (The War is Over !!)

Sid chip overrated? Come on!
At 'his' time, it was - home computer-wise - genius... No home computer sounded like the C64.

Bollocks!

Re: Monkey Island 1 Special Edition...soon?

I've played it today at xBox Live, and I think it's great they've re-released it!
The humour hasn't lost a bit of it's freshness... Now let's hope they make a compilation disk with all their great adventures!

Re: Issue 66 Feedback thread

It think this is a really great issue! The love of the staff for R etro G aming (capitols, yes!) can be felt browsing through the pages. You know, I read RG travelling to work by train. I couldn't miss it anymore!!! From time to time I miss a bit of (C64) 8-bit stuff, because in Belgium (hey, that's...

Re: Emulators VS. The Real Stuff

I have a c64 with a 1541 Ultimate cartridge which gives me the benefit of native hardware with the convenience of tens of thousands of disk images and prgs on the sd card. Emulation of the c64 is still not up to my preferred standard. For most other systems I use emulators on the xbox and psp. Seem...

Re: c64 emulator

Anyone any experience with the 1541 Ultimate Cartridge?
You can put an SD-card loaded with roms directly into yer C64. Seems like the perfect deal to me...

Re: Only fool with Retrogaming needs?

I miss the old days when my cousin and I used to play NES and SNES games to death , I can't count how many times we beat Contra, Castlevania (hard game), Life Force, etc togheter. Then as I had no console, I used to play PC games with my brother, spent countless hours playing multiplayer DOOM (para...

Only fool with Retrogaming needs?

I wonder... I'm fond of retro gaming, but it seems that I'm the only one in my neighbourhood/family. I used to play them with my best friend, but he moved to America, now eight years ago. And playing games on my own; well... It's ok, but not as much fun. So I was wondering: are you guys out there al...

Re: Emulators VS. The Real Stuff

I myself am the exact opposite. I love jamming those carts into the consoles. I also prefer having a game as a physical thing, not a computer file. IT just doesn't feel as good to buy/have a downloaded game instead of a cart/cd. For me personally emulators just don't do it. They are useful to other...

Re: Emulators VS. The Real Stuff

I will get hated for saying this - but a lot of times i prefer the emu's. Okay, I grant you that you're not getting an 100 percent accurate version of the game you are playing, as it was originally intended to be enjoyed... For me the 'feel' is more important than the accuracy of the arcade port......

Emulators VS. The Real Stuff

I think emulators are 'ok', but nothing goes above the real stuff, I think! When I type LOAD "*",8,1 on my C64, see the blue screen flikker on my old Philips monitor, hear the disk drive 'shshshshsh', notice a few seconds of nothing, and then hear the wonderfull 8 bit-SID music come out of the littl...

Re: Issue 66 Feedback thread

Ref: Infiltrator request, i too would love to see a look at the series. Cannot recall it being a trilogy tho. Just infiltrator and infiltrator:The next day. Was there a 3rd game? :? -If so, even more reason i`d love to see a feature. I've the two games, and on a blank disk (standard floppy with cop...

Re: Issue 66 Feedback thread

Awaiting it still!
Darran: my favourite game ever on 8-bit (C64-version) is the Infiltrator-trilogy. Any chance on an 'making of' on it? Sold a millions back then...

Cheers!
