Re: Jag and 3DO 20 years old this year.

Own both Jaguar (+CD) and 3DO (and 3DO Blaster) Never liked the 3DO,somehow a very awkward machine to use, heavy and huge. Joe of DP was a huge 3DO fan though. Jaguar, love hate relation ship with it. Good machine, way ahead of its time, 64 bit of course, no doubt about that, but most of the games a...

Re: Retro Gamer Issue 114 Feedback

I got the 3DO Blaster (cost me $45.00), it's an ISA card though, and I never had the chance to try it out....yet. http://www.videogamecollectors.com/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=363470&g2_serialNumber=5 http://www.videogamecollectors.com/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.Downlo...

Re: From the forum issue 114 Platformers

Having sold my The Lucky Dime Caper for $800, which I picked up in in the middle 90s for GBP 9.00 (at Makro), I'd say so too. Excellent platform game btw.

Re: German Retro Gamer issue 2

BTW, here's a (small) list of famous US programmers who during the 80s, contributed to the success of worldwide known games on the three main 8-bit computers (Apple ][, Atari 8-bit, C64) : Gary Grigsby Dan Bunton Bruce and Roger Carver Frank Cohen Douglas Crockford Michael Farren Dave Lebling Paul M...

Re: German Retro Gamer issue 2

Found another mistake, this time from the German editors: Stating in the Sid Meier interview that the 3DO was never released in Europe. What??? I purchased my PAL 3DO in the UK, a Panasonic FZ-1 which I still own. the console even spawned its own 3DO Magazine in UK, here my magazine collection: http...

Re: Retro Gamer Issue 113 - Feedback Thread

There's never any actual data, as it states in the book Game Over (endorsed by NOA and NCL) for example Nintendo always inflated their sales figures, as did Sega. Obviously other companies did the same. It's like in the old days when record companies send records to record shops (like HMV), and this...

Re: The Missing Retro Gamer features

A welcome feature (obviously impossible) would be Strategic Plus, an excellent company from the Midlands, selling SSI, Epyx, Microprose, Origin, Sir-Tec (and others) software for C64 and A8 (and later ST, Amiga, IBM). I remember ( whilst I was re-reading my complete collection of C&VGs) them adverti...

Re: German Retro Gamer issue 2

You should have done a fact check really. The German edition is completely revised. They even went so far as to alter the occasional UK-biased praise of certain games and systems. Several features have additional info boxes and the like focusing on the German market. On the other hand, they dropped...

OK what you guys are saying is: Matthew Smith is an unknown programmer (nobody had ever heard of him in USA or Japan), who wrote three obscure games (those games of Mathew Smith are unknown in USA and Japan) on a little known computer (Timex flopped in USA). BTW, Alternate Reality The Dungeon score...

Most excellent Minority Report, worth the magazine alone.
Also outstanding is Beyond's Shadowfire trilogy. Would have loved playing the third game, the first two were great.

Re: The Missing Retro Gamer features

Can we get an article about the old PC games Paratrooper, Alley Cat, Round 42 and Sopwith? Alley Cat especially. I would love to know how such an awesome little arcade game was published by IBM of all people!? Before some wrong info gets around again, Alley Cat is an Atari 8-bit original programmed...
