I don't have any problem with the subscription charge. RG = great value to me. :) But - I find it ILLOGICAL that subscribers are "sent a letter" (especially when they're far from the UK) ...yet we're sent an email for a "subs survey". Personally - this has led to me missing out on the "subscribe ea...

Retro Remakes 2008 Compo - my "dirty dozen downloads&am

The guys at Retro Remakes have now uploaded all the 2008 compo entries for your downloading pleasure. As always, big kudos to everyone involved. Running a comp like this is a massive job, the quality of entries is often very high. If anyone's interested, I've blogged about my " Dirty Dozen Downloads...

Oh I hope so Lorf, got a few ideas up my sleeve.

But it's early days for me; I'd be just one of many people submitting material to RG,
so we'll see how things progress..

Thanks Lofarius.

I found it (a WhyYouMustPlay) a bit of a challenge though, because you want to write in a "passionate/convincing" way,
but you don't want to come across as someone who's just an "obsessed fan".

Hopefully I managed the former. :-)

Behind the scenes - Losing my Retro Gamer writing virginity

A few months ago, I made my RG debut. Now that I've launched my own blog, JustOneMoreGame ... I thought it would be good to look back, and write about how I created my first piece " Why You Must Play Mr Heli ".* All feedback (except if it involves microphones & speakers :D) gratefully received. Oh -...

will Game On be coming back to the UK anytime soon - I really enjoyed it the first time around - apart from the time limit thing with stickers - which was little OTT in my opinion Timothy, It's in Brisbane till February next year. I am hopefully interviewing one of the permament GameOn staff next w...

Well, I had lots of dealings with ACMI (who hosted Game On in Melbourne) and the staff I talked to were extremely nice & accomodating. I can only assume that the "no camera" thing was much more about stopping people from annoying others with lots of flashes going off. After all, the "official Game O...

Nice walkthrough there with pics, looking forward to the other parts :)
Well, in Melbourne they wanted all cameras handed over for safe keeping before you went in...
Who knows?

Thanks for the nice comments.

Part 2 is up now. :)

The retrogaming travelling circus...

If you haven't been to a "Game On" show before, (125 playable games from 1960's to now) you might be interested to read my detailed walkthrough/report. And of course... CHECK OUT THE PHOTOS! I was lucky enough to attend the "media launch" so I could take lots of photos, (regular visitors aren't all...

Interesting information and something I've not even considered (everything shows up for me) I'll put it forward Monday. Daz - regarding " everything shows up for me ", just a quick reminder that we can all "physically see" the registration "ads" . But we don't "actually see" them as we have trained...

Er, there are two massive links to the registration on the home page – one in the top left, and one huge banner graphic below the information on the latest issue of Retro Gamer. Can't get clearer than that Quaid, with a greatest of respect, I must disagree. You're looking at the RG website with "...

We've made our love of space Invaders (we have none for it) quite clear. The only decent Space Invaders (aside from the one covered in our top 25) came out a few months ago in my opinion. Mmmm, I shall half agree, oh great leader. 1. The original has a place in history. That's all. No need to ever ...

Oh, and while we're doing an "IT WISH LIST" for the RG.net website... Is it possible to change the "blue title bar info" so that each one actually reflects the page you're viewing? If I go to 20 different pages on the site, then click on history, all I see is.... {IP} Classic Retro Games - Retro Ga...

Dear IT gurus behind RG.net

I don't know much about 'cookies'... But I know it would be MUCH EASIER if we could just stay "logged in" for at least a month at a time on the new site. (Yahoo mail allows this now, for example) As it is - I have to log in each day, and often RE-log in just 1 minute after I already logged in. Also ...

im probably one of the causes of the profiles over 350 words long. But I too read and re-read mine but sometimes little spelling errors slip through. its called being human. but i put my hands up to it Of course, you can always edit them later. I often spot 'goofs' after uploading, then do a quick ...
