There's a "hidden arcade" too.

Re: RE: Free Subscription Incentives

I'd imagine 8bitdo get something out of this, so I doubt the full controller price comes out of magazine funds. It's good publicity for 8bitdo. I've resubscribed for the first time in many years (I guess I buy the magazine 2-4 times a year on average). I'd only seen the 8bitdo controllers a few days...

Re: From The Forum issue 183 - Tetris: Best puzzler ever?

I was never a fan of Tetris. A review of Tetris Attack in Nintendo Official Magazine convinced me it was different enough from Tetris, and Tetris Attack became my favourite puzzler of all-time. It's especially fun (and tense) playing multiplayer with my brother - building up massive chains and dropp...

Re: Subscriber Covers

I'm not a subscriber and I've preferred every one of the newstand covers since the different covers were introduced. I think it works with some magazines. I'm not sure why it doesn't with Retro Gamer. Edit: Now I've subscribed via the controller offer, I hope the subscriber covers are ditched. If an...

Re: Magazine cop out !!!

I buy other magazines and Retro Gamer is one of the two best (the other being Wanderlust) in terms of delivering content, especially where the cover feature is concerned. I bought an issue of Trail recently and the main cover feature was a 2-minute read!

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 178

I enjoyed the MUD article even though some of it went over my head. I was hoping for a bit more from the Goldeneye feature given how many pages it took up, but it was good nonetheless.

I liked the little Oh Mummy feature too. Championship Manager still to read - I'm looking forward to that one.

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 178

Plenty of interest in this one for me, and I'm all for more in depth features when they're a game I like. I'm glad my Perfect Dark mention got into "From the Forum" - my first appearance. :D

Despite having a N64 from the early days I never got Golden Eye and still have not played it. I did get its spiritual successor though Perfect Dark.
Tell me more...

Re: Almost every issue I receive gets ruined in the mail

In the UK we'd probably get compensation if something arrived that badly damaged. It'd be up to the sender to claim from Royal Mail (or whoever delivers it) I think. Your photo is shocking and I'd be complaining to the local Royal Mail straightaway, but we are supposed to be good complainers in the ...

Re: Retro Gamer issue 177

Thats probably just the perspective of a UK viewpoint - the NES had an incredible lineup from Nintendo, Rare, Konami, Capcom, Taito, Square etc and dominated in many countries. Its probably reflecting that the reader base for RG is becoming more global. I don't think it's that. I had lots of fun wi...

Re: 8-Bit vs Old School Rave

I enjoy hearing this sort of stuff in regular songs. I love this song by Class Actress, which is on the pop side, and the melody is great too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rxl0m8Ut5uA

I'd love to attempt it myself, but haven't got around to it yet.

Re: Preschool Console Games

A friend has all of the current generation consoles and his 5 year-old likes the Wii U (which I guess will move to the Switch, which he's only had for a couple of weeks). There's Lego City Undercover, Mario of course, and a couple of other games I can't remember the name of - there's one with nice c...

Re: Retro Gamer issue 177

I was hoping for a bit more info on the various top 30 systems, but I'm aware there's only so much you can fit in a magazine! I'm pleased to see the SNES at the top - I voted it 1st, and the Megadrive much lower down my top 10 (though I'm not sure if my votes were too late to count) so it was intere...

Re: Retro Gamer issue 176

I enjoyed the Contra article, and didn't know it existed on the Megadrive, so will have to track that down. I'm yet to read the Amstrad and Turok articles, which are the others I'm looking forward to most.

Re: From the forum issue 178 - Goldeneye

Everything, but especially the level-design and music, was brilliant. I think I part-exchanged it for Turok and my brother wasn't too happy at first. Even without the multiplayer it was the best first-person shooter we'd played. Perfect Dark has to get a mention as it improved on the already-amazing...
