Re: From The Forum Issue 202
Hyrule Field, Ocarina of Time. It seemed massive back then as the link between locations. It was a relaxing place to be - possibly the first time I thought that about a game? I loved the sunsets and sunrises, the music and how it became eerie at dusk. I loved galloping across it with Epona.

Re: Tetris 99
I've never been a big Tetris fan, but Tetris Attack is one of my favourite all-time games. How does Tetris 99 compare?

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 200
It's the first time I've spent 20 minutes looking at a magazine cover...then more when I realised the image was the poster too.
I'm enjoying the issue so far, and it looks like one I'll read from cover to cover. I'm looking forward to the bedroom coders and gaming magazine issues.

Re: Ebay is flooded with repros. Can anything be done?
Is this something Retro Gamer could do an article about? Pressure and all that.
I bought a DVD from CEX recently, and on closer inspection, the cover is poor quality so maybe they printed that themselves. That's rather scammy if so.

Re: Non-gaming music that reminds you of game music
I hear that. It reminded me of Song of Storms from Ocarina of Time - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7KhEMcJoNiA - but Settlers may be even closer.PostieDoc wrote: ↑Thu Oct 10, 2019 10:37 amGame of Thrones title music sounds uncannily similar to the original Settlers game.

Non-gaming music that reminds you of game music
This track reminds me of something from Perfect Dark and/or GoldenEye on the N64. I can't quite place it to a particular tune (anyone?), so although I haven't played either game for a couple of years, maybe it's more about the atmosphere: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9mv4biRn9bE I asked the guita...

Re: Buying CD's
An EP I loved disappeared off Spotify, iTunes etc. earlier this year. I wish I'd bought the MP3s.
I've recently bought CDs by Polish post-rockers Tides from Nebula and violin/piano duo AVA, both signed at gigs to make them that bit special.

Re: The most disappointed you've ever been in a release
There was a while where everything RareWare touched seemed to be gold. The reviews for Banjo Kazooie were great, so I was very excited, and this was after Blast Corps, Diddy Kong Racing and GoldenEye proved Rare was making awesome games for N64. Only, I didn't like Banjo Kazooie. I thought things mi...

Re: Collecting Amstrad CPC boxed games
Most of my Amstrad games are in a plastic case, but the following are boxed if I remember rightly:
Galaxy Force (I think this came with a poster).
Flimbo's Quest.
Chase H.Q.
I'll have a longer think. I can't remember the others...

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion
I barely play games these days - only the occasional retro game or with family and friends when I visit. My only 'current' console is the SNES Mini. I'm thinking of buying a Switch for Collection of Mana, though it's too ridiculous to spend £300 just for an official translation and release of a 25-y...

Re: Retro Gamer Review Marks
I prefer this way of scoring for all games. Playability is always the most important in my opinion, and the graphics could look great in the magazine but not when seen in action.Darran@Retro Gamer wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2019 11:09 amWe might go really old school and have separate scores for graphics, sound, playability etc for the home brew stuff.

Re: Questions for Mark 'Kick Off' Greenshields
Did you have to do much research in terms of watching childrens' programmes? Were you made aware of a bug in the Amstrad CPCs Sooty and Sweep where the game froze every time you entered the bathroom? How did you get the handling so perfect on Postman Pat's van? I played that game recently and it sti...

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 192
I buy the magazine for the content, the cover for me isn't that important. People seem to put far too much weight on it when in reality I can't imagine they actually spend that much time looking at it. You don't know how 'sad' I am. I can look at a screenshot of Yoshi's Island anytime, which...

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 192
I'm surprised the subscriber covers are still going given how much the negative feedback outweighs the positive on this forum. I much prefer (and love) the newsstand cover again this month: https://twitter.com/RetroGamer_Mag/status/1107617369604739072 (though the first replier to that Tweet prefers ...
