Re: what are somethings you like or dislike about modern gam

The fact that the old school games are only really very difficult because of the lack of auto-saves and save points and pretty much only ever provided the illusion of length through enforced repetition of already completed sections (essentially a tedious memory test) is why modern games are far bet...

Re: what are somethings you like or dislike about modern gam

The old myth that there's no challenge in a modern game needs exploding too I feel. I'm currently playing Vanquish on God Hard difficulty and it's a trial. Whether I manage to complete it or not depends entirely on how persistent I am with it. Nothing in gaming has changed there. With modern games ...

Re: What are you currently playing?

I think the problem for me was I'd already played Dmc 1's to 3 and literall just finished off Ninja Gaiden Black directly before starting Resi 4. So, I was expecting at least some of those japaneese action game trademarks and Resi 4 just ambles along at a snails pace.

Re: What are you currently playing?

Being a fan of Mikami I did finish Resi 4. Resi 5 was the one I gave up on.

Re: What are you currently playing?

I wasn't saying that Resi 4 was superior to it prequels, more that it was at the time, and still is superior to so many others of its type. It has a solid gameplay mechanic that is wrapped in some of the most incredible gameplay, bosses and scenes throughout its entire playtime. I was literally thi...

Re: What are you currently playing?

Resi 4 is a very good game on its own terms. It's just different to the main Resi output. Traditionalists always moan about such changes I find. As an action game it's certainly up there with the best. As a Resi game it can be an acquired taste depending on your expectations and willingness to embr...

Re: What are you currently playing?

Indeed they were, and people just do not seem to be able to get over it, yet they happily will play other action based games over this that are clearly inferior. Action shooting is only one element of a Resident Evil game, though. I just don't see how other games can be judged as inferior when they...

Re: What are you currently playing?

People must stop comparing Resi 4 to the others in the series and treat it for its own game. It compliments the series perfectly well and is quite simply a stunning title. The main part of the game, the Castle is a joy to behold. Playing Ghost in the Shell : Stand Alone Complex myself. :D Which is ...

Re: What game have you COMPLETED this week

Things having calmed back down at work now I've been able to get back to gaming again :D

I completed Eternal Sonata (Ps3) this afternoon. I am not a big jrpg player but I thoroughly enjoyed this; probably as much as I did Lost Odyssey.

I didn't really get on with Resi 4, 5 even less so. I prefer the old style games better tbh.

Re: what is something you like about modern games

Yearly updates that add very little, no punishment for dying, patchs and overpriced downloadable content that unlocks features that are already on the disc   Add to those over-saturation of shooters and dwindling amounts of originality. I do like modern games for improvements in graphics ...

Re: What are you currently playing?

I've played a few more chapters on Heavy Rain and its really gotten going now, I'm really enjoying it but I think I see where your coming from about the plot being a bit predictable (unless they have a few twists up their sleeves). What are the different endings like? Does the game alter drasticall...

Re: Gears of War

Before I go on I've only played the second game so views might be a bit skewed, but... Am I the only one who thought GOW2 was incredibly average? I thought Gears Of War was completely average in all regards Vanquish absolutely craps all over it for solo play. I never got on with Gears either... far...

I enjoyed Heavy Rain... although its plot is somewhat predictable.. imo. I certainly won't spoil it though.

Re: Gamecube - your favourite title and collecting

I am having a bit of a clear out at the mo and I have spare copies of Resi 1 and Resi Zero. I can't be bothered with Ebay, so I was wondering if anyone would be interested in them.. trade or whatever. Both are boxed with instructions and in good condition. Cash wise.. I've had a look on Ebay and the...
