Re: BBC star salaries

If you look beyond the popularist censored like Eastenders and Radio 1 the BBC does a lot of fantastic work. My flat has a really sketchy TV aerial so we watch very little live broadcast TV but we watch iplayer far more than Netflix.

Re: What are you currently playing?

Bioshock, XBox One as part of the Bioshock Collection. Can't explain it but I find the game quite a chore to play - I'm pushing through to experience Rapture and the story again.

Re: Retro PC gaming

I'm not about to start paying lots of money to have them again though. Retro PC games are surprisingly cheap compared to console games. I couldn't envisage paying much more than £30 for even the rarest games and the more common ones can often be bought for peanuts. I had a quick look on ebay and yo...

Re: Retro PC gaming

I'm incredibly nostalgic about about big box releases as I got into pc games just before the DVD style case took over.

I'm not really a fan of Sega but I always get really nostalgic over Ecco:Defender of the Future. Such a bright, breezy game.

Re: What games/consoles have you bought this week??

Having spent the last week on holiday in the Channel Islands I have a really strong compulsion to play Zelda: Wind Waker. So I've bought that.

Original Xbox to be added to XBOne Backwards Compatability

A curated list of classic Original Xbox games are expected to join the Xbox One Backward Compatibility library this autumn (autumn 2017). More information about features and included games will be available closer to availability. http://www.xbox.com/en-GB/xbox-one/backward-compatibility I'm actual...

Oh wow I always mean to get Project Sylpheed and managed to forget all about it. I no longer own a proper 360 so too late now - oh well!

Re: What are you currently playing?

For me the sweet spot for level design was the late 90s - early 2000s. Complex enough to be interesting but also the levels made sense in a believable way i.e. a factory looked like it was a factory. Have to say I did enjoy the tight, scripted level design of CoD4 but that game's success, and the s...

Re: What are you currently playing?

Ultimate Doom. Going for a run on Ultra Violence and without any use of maps and disabled HUD. It still plays wonderfully, a testament of gameplay, immersion and game design mastery and is also the game that changed the perspective that PC gaming is just about more complex games like strategies, si...

Re: I need a favour re: Gamecube controller

So after some faff and a lot of generosity from Shinobi I've gotten the Wii up and running! It's not perfect as a lot of the emulators either don't work at all or have the odd glitch but I'm not complaining. IMG_1132.JPG IMG_1130.JPG IMG_1131.JPG It's weird fun playing Super Nes games with the Wii r...

Re: Games that hold nostalgia for you

In loose chronological order I would think I'd start with SNES- I'd had a CPC 464, experienced a few other Micros and had a Master System but they were mostly frustrating. Favourites were by Nintendo and Konami such as Zelda, F-Zero, Mario Kart, Probotector, Axelay, Cybernator, Castlevania, Batman R...

Re: Grenfell Tower, London fire.

I believe there are many ways out of the whole affordable housing rules - such as "if the developer can prove they won't make any/enough (?) profit, they don't have to provide them" or somesuch. Not sure how easy it is in practise, but from what I've heard it's pretty easy. I'm not up on the latest...

I would never dream of buying Forza as a download anyway.
Yes but it does indicate how memory hungry the game will be. I wouldn't be surprised to see patches bigger than 10 gig.
Remember when decent PC games were 600 meg and my 10 gb hard drive was "more than enough".
