Re: Konami Anniversary Collections
I'm still looking forward to these and keeping an eye out for them on the Xbox store. I'd like to see both SNES and mega drive games on there. As an ardent SNES fan back then I would never have lowered myself to playing the MD titled but I recall the sega magazines raved about it. I don't really hav...

Re: Quake II Fully Ray Traced
PS Quake 2 is much shorter than the PC game but IIRC had some unique sections. I think there was a level with a long ramp down to an orange, mech type boss thing? I didn't know they did an N64 port. I'd probably moved into PCs by then. That was my favourite period for gaming, the late 90s/early 2000...

Re: Quake II Fully Ray Traced
If you do go back and play Quake now, get Quakespasm. It fixes the daft implementation of mouselook and pushes the whole thing into hires. Last year I went and played through all of Quake 1 via a source port that I cant recall. Playing the game natively was impossible due to how the game was coded....

Re: Quake II Fully Ray Traced
Music wise there's no better than the Trent Reznor stuff. As for gameplay / graphics, Quake 1 had the whole Cthulhu type thing going, and the mish mash of medieval fantasy and futuristic tech for both the look of the levels + the enemies you'd encounter. See I found Quake a bit incoherent. Zombies,...

Re: Quake II Fully Ray Traced
I loved quake 2. It really blew me away when I first saw it running in IIRC HMV. Fantastic music too.
Wasn't really a quake game though. Sci-fi space marine is a bit too close to doom.

Re: What are you currently playing?
Currently playing the original Assassin's Creed. Have never tried the series before but have been watching my g/f play Odyssey. Funny to see how different it is; the original reminds me somewhat of Thief with the need to remain incognito while moving through crowded, 3rd Crusade era streets of Damas...

Where does Super Castlevania 4 stand in the difficulty hericahy? I haven't played any of the other Castlevanias and, except for the spiky dungeon and maybe the odd mistimed jump before the final boss run, I could easily 1cc that game.

Re: Konami Anniversary Collections
I'd probably buy the Contra and Castlevania collections just for the SNES iterations, especially if they're a budget download package. Two of my favourite games of evah.
I can't see them being that cheap though.

Re: Just found a load of 1989 - 1990 Kerrang and Metal Hammer mags
-Manga Mania - stopped not long after they finished Akira. -Can't recall when that was. -Evo car magazine, subscribed for a couple of years around about '99 on. -Kerrang, maybe a bit later 2003-05ish. -PC Zone about that time up to about 2006ish. -Edge, maybe a few times a year, since the 16 bit day...

Lately - Streets of Rage Remake. Also been back through my GC collection so I've been enjoying some Burnout . Baten Kaitos and Capcom vs SNK 2 EO. I'll be moving on to the GC REmake tonight. The original Burnout was a great arcade-style racer. It was only really the music and s/FX that let it down ...

Yes Bomberman is absolutely essential.FatTrucker wrote: ↑Wed Jan 23, 2019 11:40 amSuper Bomberman or any in the series. Still probably the most fun you can have as a group on one screen.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade is pretty good with 3 or 4 players too.
