Re: The first games you completed.
OMG! Ye Ar Kung Fu on 464! Corner yourself and your opponent would be too close to actually hit you. Total exploit, obvs, so doesn't really count.

The first games you completed.
What are the first games you can remember completing? My first machine was a cpc464 but most of the games were too abstract, complicated or simply broken. I may have finished Ghostbusters but I really can't remember. The first games I can remember for sure were on the Master System and I think the v...

Re: games where the original was best
The only Outrun I really played prior to Coast 2 Coast was BattleOutrun on the Mastersystem. I wasn't a massive fan back then but I did finish the game on a few occasions.
I think the original Burnout wasn't bettered simply because the series moved away from the pure racer to "vehicular combat".

My main memeoris of the cpc464 were the little rituals I felt necessary to make certain games load without crashing and the absolute revelation it was when I got a Master System and instant access carts!

Re: games where the original was best
Probably trolling but has the original GranTurismo ever been bettered? Do the sequels offer anything other than more of the same?

Re: What's Your Favorite Driving/Racing Game Ever?
Racing games have totally dropped off the radar for me. Can't stand the obsessive car worship of modern iterations of GT & Forza and the last arcadey racing game I tried, NfS Hot Pursuit, I just couldn't get into. I'd like to see some original Xbox game though; Forza, PGR2, Burnout 3, Outrun 2006 etc.

Re: games where the original was best
For me, Outrun Coast to Coast is really Sega at it's best. Bright, sunny games with breezy, arcade gameplay and great music. Proper "feel good" games that you can drop into when you're not feeling great about whatever and just let it take you away. I'd love to see it on XBone Backwards but I expect ...

Re: Quintessential Games
Which games for you are, *the* quintessential game of its type : for instance, THE platformer that defines platform gaming for you, is as complete and fulfilling as it can be for that genre? The quintessential shoot 'em up? The quintessential adventure? etc. So choose one game for each category : 1...

Re: Your fave FPS series
I think the only series I could really choose would be Halo. I could have chosen games like Doom, Thief 2 or Deus Ex but they all had disappointing sequels (plus I never had Doom when it was new, I think the nearest I got was the PS1 port). Halo is the only game I've returned to in the past few year...

Re: The Star Wars thread
Personally I'm pretty tired of SW these days as it's never as good as the originals as there's nothing new and they've not evolved the worlds or the 'religions' enough for me. I’m pretty tired of it all, too. I think I can blame the Prequels for that but the ludicrous amount of merchandising too. I...

Re: Too many worthwhile games?
Totally agree. I have a XBOne and recently got a modded Wii with 16-bit emulators and GC capability and I’ve hardly touched it. I just don’t have the time - best I can manage is a few hours/ the odd evening a week which just isn’t enough.

Re: Gaming elements that annoy you.
Never really liked the “find the key” elements to classic FPS like Doom and Quake. I guess you need some reason to go all over the map.

Re: Games genres that you just don't like
I don’t like the modern racing game along the lines of Forza and GT. really, how are they any better than the original GT?

Re: Your greatest gaming gamble
Free space 2 would be my Best Buy. Looked at the top10s in PCZone (this was when Medal of Honour:Allied Assault was the top FPS) and fancied a space game. Couldn't find their No1, which I think was X2, but I did find their No2, FS2. Played it for ages, got into the modding scene, into computer graph...
