Re: Fighting Fantasy

Wasn't Trial of Champions essentially Deathtrap Dungeon with some gladiatorial trials before hand? Did I remember that correctly? Pretty much, but most Ian Livingstone books are essentially the same dungeon crawl, even when they're above ground. So many T-junctions, even in Forest of Doom... I was ...

Re: GODS Remastered

Might get this. Only ever played the SNES port, which felt like a clunky Castlevania/Metroid clone, but I was kinda fond of it.

Re: What are you currently playing?

I've been having a great time in Spintires:Mudrunners. In my 35 years of gaming I’ve never played a game that is so unpleasant to play. It’s a horrible game environment, it actively hurts your right trigger finger as you desperately try to get any speed going, it couldn’t be more brown, it explains...

Re: Where did you get yours?

Most were hand me downs from my older brother, gifts or something like used eBay purchases.
Only things I got new from shops were GameCube, from Toys R Us and a PC around 1999 from PC World (no idea what I was doing but turned out decent).

Should have kept that 'cube.....

Re: Sony announces Playstation 1 Classic

I agree with Wipeout being a big omission, from my perspective anyway. I imagine trying to rerelease GranTurismo would be a licensing nightmare.

Re: Sony announces Playstation 1 Classic

Ah yeah, Wipeout. I knew something was missing but couldn't put my finger on it. Toca, V-Rally, Colin McRae or maybe even Micro Machines might have been nice. Gran Turismo would have been cool but I guess it would be bogged down in licensing issues. I was never going to buy it so I guess my opinion ...

Re: gamesTM and GamesMaster to end

I'm surprised GM lasted this long. TBH I'm surprised it survived the TV show.
I also kind of enjoyed Edge's silly pomposity, but I stopped reading it around the time RedEye was dropped. I was only really reading it for the retrospectives at that point anyway.

Yeah I found the US version on dvd and was thoroughly disappointed with the soundtrack. It's actually much easier just to pull it (and the soundtrack) off YouTube.

I'm going through an "iconic Sci-Fi" phase so have Ringworld & Hyperion coming from eBay.

Re: games where the original was best

I agree with Soldier of Fortune . SoF made the basic pistol fun, though there would be almost no ammo after the second or third mission IIRC.

Agree with Halo , too. I just couldn't get as enthused for the sequels or Reach, though ODST came pretty close.
