Re: how old is your current pc ?

Intel Core i3-2100 8 GB RAM Gigabyte GA-H77-D3H motherboard (purchased in October) 500 GB + 750 GB hard drives Windows 7 SP1 x64 Other than the motherboard, the rest has been cobbled together over the last 4 years or so. No games go anywhere near it, the most strenuous thing I do on it is audio reco...

Re: Today

I never thought I'd see the day when I'd walk into a games shop and the guys would be outnumbered by the girls... but it actually happened today. How times change (for the better, I should add)!

Re: Your favorite gaming era?

For me, it's the period when I got my Speccy +2 in 1988 through to the Game Boy in 1993 - when the licenced games were coming thick and fast and the 16-bits were in their pomp. Got my first PC in 1997 and the games I played on it for the next 2-3 years were responsible for the fall in my school grad...

Re: What games/consoles have you bought this week??

Treated myself to Transformers: War of Cyberton and London 2012 for Xmas. They're the first 360 games I've bought in ages, the latter will be the first Olympic game I've played since Olympic Gold on the Master System 20 years ago!

Re: Old computers what do you do with them now?

I've been building my own computers since 1999 so I upgrade them in bits according to my needs at the time and don't usually have full computers lying around. Any unwanted bits, cables etc go on eBay or to the local charity shop, I don't like to have too much old stuff lying around unused...

Re: Windows 8. Anyone getting it, upgrading?

I tried the Developer Preview and thought the idea of shoehorning Metro and touch into a desktop OS was appalling. Things like moving the mouse into the corner with nothing to indicate it (and then having to remember NOT to move the mouse onto the little preview window that pops up), Charms etc make...

Re: What is your Favourite games controller?

For me, the SNES pad has never been bettered. I also have soft spots for the Zip Stik and the Bug joysticks (was thrilled to be able to hold one for the first time in years at Play!) too. I use two Sidewinder USB joypads on my HTPC which runs MAME and Sega/Nintendo 8/16-bit emulators and they're gre...

Re: RIP..............

Haven't used it for about 10 years but like many (most?) people on here, I would wake up every morning to Digitiser or the music news pages on Teletext as well as checking the footy scores every Saturday. It's had its day with all the technology available to us now but it's sad to have something els...

Re: Appalling games you enjoy.....

I've played and enjoyed my fair share of footy games which, in hindsight, were pretty awful and didn't actually bear much relation to the real thing... Peter Beardsley's International Football on the Speccy springs to mind!

Re: What Blu rays have you bought this week-aka Blu ray vs D

I got the Alien Anthology boxset too (on Blu-Ray), couldn't resist it at a tenner from Amazon. Pity I don't actually have my Blu-Ray player set up since moving back in with my parents!

Working through season 1 of the Sopranos - usually find it hard to get into mob films/TV but this is really good. Need to check out more HBO stuff!

Re: Learning a new language - your experiences

I see, cheers mate. I have I have a friend from Chile who's lived over here for years and years now, she speaks, reads and writes both Spannish and English perfectly, so I asked her what language does she think in? She said both, which totally blew my mind. I don't know if it's the same for other l...
