Re: Your 2011 New Years Retro Resolutions?

I spent too much on retro imports this year. About $350 a month on average. I will commit to spending only $150 on goods per month next year. Things to cover... more SNES games. More PS1 games. Less books/magazines because of their weight = higher shipping costs. Also I need to cut back on food expe...

Re: The Unobtainables Obtained

Well, I managed to find the game from my childhood because someone posted it here. It was called the New Zealand Story. I forgot who it was... but much thanks! Another unobtainable I have obtained was issue #1 of a local VGM. Went to the forum of the VGM and was very lucky to find a newsagency owner...

Re: Post 777 - DAYTONA! and other Sega racers

Daytona USA was the sh!t. Whether you're playing against random people or your friends, it really did bring arcade goers together. It was a gender friendly game as well. I never really had the privilege of playing Ridge Racer in the arcade. It never really took off here. I played it heaps on the con...

Re: Donkey Kong Country Returns

I don't have any problems with the control system. It can't be any worse than a Mortal Kombat style arcade stick. I think it works alright if you're trying to complete stages as fast as you can. As for exploration, I don't enjoy w@nking with two hands sideways. And it does suck that it doesn...

Re: What grinds your gears ?

Every form of communication is relative to the situation you're in, but more importantly adopting to most appropriate form of communication for that situation. There's no point trying to express yourself using some intellectual fandango when your audience could be a bunch of dullards who prefer thi...

Re: Introduce yourself

I'm John. I live in Melbourne, Australia. I have been a member here for about a month or two. My ID derives from a joke. Just google it and find out for yourself. I was looking for a site to talk about retro games so that is why I have joined this community. I have bought one magazine of Retro Gamer...

Re: Eurotaku: better than Playasia?

I visited it. I wouldn't go as far as being better than Play-Asia. It really depends on the products you're interested in. As a site, Play-Asia runs rings around it. I am particularly impressed with their cart system. As for the products, Play-Asia seems to always be out of stock. Eurotaku might hav...

Re: What grinds your gears ?

Language evolves - live with it (or words to that effect). I agree, however the objection I have to the current way the written language is used is because this evolution simply detracts from, not adds to our ability to communicate effectively. It may have originated as a convenient shorthand for t...

Re: Eurotaku: better than Playasia?

Saw a link to this shop on another forum and had a look at their stock. In addition to having a lot of doujin shmups, they have all the stuff playasia has. Import 360s, games etc. Its cheaper too, a slim 4gb jap 360 is £153 compared to playasia's price of £243. http://www.eurotaku.com/webshop/produ...

Re: SNES forums?

I bought mine from eBay. $160 AUD boxed/manuals + 9 games. The console box is near perfect. :D But I can't stand going to SNES forums because all they talk about is Chrono Trigger, Link to the Past, Lufia, Castlevania and every other goddamned RPG there is. I have never understood the joy of the "I...
