Could we have guest columnists until his return? Eh? Eh? Eh?

I thought the same thing last August when i was there for a week, I'l be there again this summer - My mums BF lives in Poole and me and my GF go down and chill on sandbanks beach for the week - is awesome. Should you get a time machine, go back to July 1993 and pop to the Game next to HMV. They'll ...

Couple of minor points: The collosion detection seems a bit strict. T It is abit dodgy, something the Spectrum version also suffers from. Sometimes the balls can brush you, othertimes you get zapped. Inconsistant would be the best way to describe it. But about the only fault. I think the music thin...

What's your favourite moment in Elite?
Crashing into a space station about 30 seconds in because I've forgotten how to dock. Doh!

Re: Official Feedback FOR ISSUE 46

So... can't wait to read this and praying to god he'll let the guys at CPCZONE emulate it!! I believe the problem is transferring the cart without damaging it. A number of the CPC carts online are actually copies of my own (long since binned) carts. They were copied about 10 years ago. I posted the...

Thanks for the GX4000 Chase HQ 2 article (IIRC I may have suggested this a few months back, I can't remember). Amazing that there only appears to be one copy out there. I wonder if it's possible it was a pre-production cart? WAVE used to buy stuff up in bulk and if Amstrad had a stack of cartridges ...

The Amiga version is the most faithful home conversion, but it's the GX4000 version that steals the show. Cute graphics, fantastic audio, and an 8 bit conversion that goes above and beyond the call of duty. I actually prefer it to the arcade version.

Re: Weekly computer mags from the late 80s

NCE gradually got more and more pricey, less and less thick, the design and layout suddenly went from "pleasing" to "god-awful" and eventually they made the fatal error of sticking a weekly multi-format floppy on the cover, which as an Archimedes owner back then, was a pretty expensive blank disc f...

Play games on my fantastic new GX4000. I'll be getting Pang, Switchblade and Navy Seals. It's gonna be great and I feel sure that with all the fantastic games lined up the consoles future will be rosy.

It is 1990 still isn't it?

Bargain Hunt: So where is the QL then? I'd thought you would get the Sinclairs right at the very least... The clue is in the magazines title. "Retro GAMER". As in games. Which there are precious few for the QL. Removing homebrew, there's probably even less than there is for the Amstrad PCW (which a...

The best was Software Plus in Aldershot. Great coverage of the 8 bits to the bitter end and also 16 bits.

Worst: A local shop known as "Hitler Games" as the man who ran it looked like Hitler. Only lasted a year and had a very poor selection of games.

Nemesis on the spectrum was a terrible conversion - recieved a sinclair user classic award in issue 60 . . IIRC Sinclair User had an entirely different version of Nemisis to everyone else. It's not that bad! And the first level is quite big and it is possible to feel a sense of progression. But it is rock hard.

I think C+VG gave it about 75%.

Amstrad Action and the GX4000 version of Navy Seals. In the review they admitted it was so hard that Ocean gave them a cheat so they would see later levels. In reality no normal gamer would get off level 1. Good game, looked and sounded lovely but the hardness would (for me) relegate it to around 70%.
