Beating Jammy Jim in 180. You always met him in the final, and he would never miss. Your only advantage was that you always threw first.

That or getting a Your Sinclair badge and a compliments slip signed by Jon Nash.

Sorcery +

Quite often games are forgotten about as platforms move forward. Sorcery never really set the world alight on the C64 and Spectrum but it was probably the CPC's first "must have" title. Amstrad Computer User raved about it and it's readers awarded it numerous awards in their reader awards in early 1...

Re: Does anyone miss the small elements from Games TM's Retr

both mate. lots of people on other forums feel that 8-bit has now had it's day, while the vast majority of readers here obviously feel otherwise :) 8 bits had it's day? What, is it 1992/3 all over again? The day RG starts slacking off with the 8 bit coverage is the day that I stop buying it. Pittin...

Of late, there have been a lot more people complaining about pre-16-bit coverage than any other era. Whether this is a reflection of changing readership trends, or just a blip (I suspect the latter) remains to be seen. I don't think you can take what people on here say as being indicative of the ge...

Re: Official Feedback FOR ISSUE 48

It is though. The original Geometry Wars has the same control system and exactly the same mechanics. The only difference is the funky graphics and different multiplier. True. It certainly does have those things in common. Still feel it's a tad loose though. But it's not a problem. Think back to a m...

Re: Official Feedback FOR ISSUE 48

As for Geometry Wars. Well it's swings and roundabouts, it's just really Robotron with funky graphics. I'm sure some enjoyed it and others didn't. While I agree that retro fans probably would enjoy Geometry Wars, saying it's Robotron with funky graphics is like saying Grand Turismo is like an updat...

Re: Sorry to harp on about this but...PRICE

....I still can't get over the price of this magazine. I'd really like to know how it's justifiable. Especially in mind of the subscription offers - and before you say it, I don't want to subscribe as sometimes there's nothing in the mag 'for me' so to speak... Stop moaning. Amiga Power cost £4.50...

Re: Official Feedback FOR ISSUE 48

Great issue. The Matthew Smith stuff was great if slightly depressing. Slightly akin to watching a star of yesteryear pop up on a chat show only to see that they've had a rough time and they'll probably never recapture the height of their original success again. Speccy article, great. Geometry Wars?...

Spindizzy originated on the CPC and the C64 version was just a port. If you want the best version you need the CPC version.

Loved the issue as usual, a few articles I'm not really interested in but there ya go! The fruit machine article....subject of some controversy. I liked it! As someone else has pointed out, the mag is called Retro Gamer after all, no mention of Video- or Computer- games there. I like reading around...

Re: From the forum question for issue 48

To tie in with our Spectrum special we'd like to know: What's the first Spectrum game you played? "Load The Game". It was a fascinating game where you had to keep on adjusting the volume control on the tape recorder to avoid the dreaded "R Tape Loading Error". Also you have to avoid sneezing or tur...

I'd like to see that as well. Even for other system then Saturn too. ;) Some looks at the classic magazines. Zzap and Crash have been done to death and although YS had a special it criminally ignored the Future era. A look at Amiga Power, YS, Amstrad Action (the mag that spawned a huge magazine Emp...

Was it the actual cart/GX4000 version? Jeez, if so you've just sent a shiver down my spine! Someone conduct an interview with Cliff somewhere, I'll have to track that down. Might be a good contact to give to Retro Gamer to do an interview too... Yes, AA reviewed it and I saw it for sale on a second...

Likewise I've got screen shots of Gazza II in action which looks really nice, the original CPC version was quite a lot of fun to play especially in 2 player. Gazza 2 was reviewed by AA and I saw the game on sale on a market stall circa 1993. I didn't buy it as I had the Speccy version. Amstrad manu...
