Re: NTSC vs PAL, the poll

It's not some games. It's the vast majority of 8-64 bit console games covering 15 plus years. Bit of a generalisation. Depends on the system as many have said. Take the Jaguar for example, the vast majority of its games were developed in Europe, so actually designed for PAL machines. There are no b...

Nothing yet but I'm off work for a couple of days so I'm gonna do some local charity shops, I am also on the verge of preordering the Destiny Taken king Limited Edition PS4 console.

Re: Original Xbox Component Cable?

I think what you need is one of these. It's the official Microsoft Component "Block", as I call it. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/XBOX-HIGH-DEFINITION-AV-PACK-/201417813270?hash=item2ee56fed16 This adapter, to the best of my knowledge, was never available here in the UK as 720p or 1080i was never an op...

Parents loft find

Called at my parents today to drop a wedding anniversary card off for them, on the side was my old Alex Higgins Cue Ball electronic game in its original box. I asked where they had got it from, my dad said in the loft as next door had some work done so he wanted to see if they had done any damage to...

Re: NTSC vs PAL, the poll

You are confusion poor image quality with resolution. The two are completely different issues. Sonic on NTSC via RGB looks miles better than via PAL RGB. The image fills the screen, updates faster and has a more solid display. Also retro games, especially 8-16 bit ones and most 32bit ones done use ...

Re: A new Monkey Island?

if I'm honest, I've been waiting for the next great adventure since Monkey 2 - there have been some terrific ones since but not quite reaching the levels of the first 2 MI's - so I for one would be incredibly over the moon if MI3(a) was to come into fruition. Having played most point'n'click graphi...

Re: Why do so many people play retro games in 16:9?

There are some simply crazy excuses being given for using 16:9. It's a button press for goodness sake, hardly takes up your time to play games correctly. People do not need an excuse, they can play games how they like, me I'm a purist and always play my retro games in 4:3 but someone playing the sa...

Re: NTSC vs PAL, the poll

It really was a bit pants being a pal gamer back in the nineties, in the eighties I didn't know any better but once I got a 16bit system and started playing US/Jap games via a converter it was pretty clear early on I had to get an import machine. So I got myself a U.S. Snes and never looked back, th...

Re: So are the 360 and PS3 now Retro

See I genuinely think (judging on how current games are reviewed) that most games will be instantly judged on how they look and 8-bit stuff will be seen to look terribe. Completely agree, my son who is ten laughs at me when I go from Destiny on my Xbox One to something like Manic Miner or something...

Re: What are you currently playing?

Just started on Darksiders 2 on the Wii U. So far I'm enjoying it although I can see why so many people refer to it as a zelda-esq title though but to me that's definitely not a bad thing Great game, it's a cross between Zelda and Soul Reaver, looking forward to the HD update on the Xbox One. I am ...
