Re: Which arcade game were you best at

Donkey Kong is such a great one because with persistence you get rewarded, and keep getting rewarded. I actually hated it until I saw King of Kong and then thought what the heck I'll give it another shot and since then have found its one of my very favourite arcade games, it becomes so addictive. On...

Re: Which arcade game were you best at

Virtua Striker 2. I won the championship on my second go, it was the first arcade game that I really clicked with immediately.

Re: Games that are better on inferior hardware

Salamander on the C64 in my opinion beats even the arcade, in terms of playability and soundtrack. The graphics on the arcade win, but I definitely believe the C64 trumps the arcade version!

Re: Billy Mitchell high scores wiped

Still watching my way through King of Kong- now the bonus features. I think one guy that comes out of it with integrity intact is Steve Sanders- who admitted cheating very early on as a kid obviously, but has since gone on to be a pretty upstanding bloke by the look. He's the calm middle ground try...

Re: Zzap64 Annual kickstarter now open

I'm in with this, this is the first kickstarter campaign Ive decided to be patient enough for. :D just a liiitle bit disappointed that (as far as I can see) Paul Glancey wont be having anything to do with it as he was my favourite reviewer.. but admittedly havent looked all that closely yet. If you...

Re: Billy Mitchell high scores wiped

Billy's been sending his hot sauce to various Youtubers who have been posting news about him... clever! Good opportunity, so he takes it. But it does go in stark contrast to when he has maintained that he still has yet to see King Of Kong. I'm starting to get the feeling he is a bit of a pathologica...

Re: Billy Mitchell high scores wiped

Dug the King of Kong DVD out again, haven't watched it for a while. Hahaha me too! I had to look for "clues" throughout, and in retrospect indeed Billy is a complete narcissist who just cannot take being second at anything. Look how he "cheats" hiding his competitors sauces, listen to when the Q-Be...

Re: Retro Gamer issue 180

Wow, great edition, loads of stuff I'm interested in, Powerdrift, Renegade III, C64 games system, Ken Williams interview.. just started reading, first thing I started reading was the Powerdrift conversion capers and the Amiga port always seems to get a bad rap but I personally think they did a great...

Re: games where the original was best

Outrun is definitely better than Turbo or Outrunners, and the 8/16 bit console/handheld variants....but Outrun 2 is just in a league of its own in the series (even though i still enjoy and love the original). Outrun 2/Coast to Coast 2006 on Xbox, PSP and PS2 are immense, and I can't believe I only ...

Re: Movies that never got games

I reckon The Lawnmower Man would be a great one to make on VR. It came out on PC and was horrid, but in VR could be more in tune with the movie.. could be a good one if done properly!

I would say Robocop, Outrun, Double Dragon, Tetris and Lemmings. Re: What are you currently playing?

I got Pacman Championship Edition 2 for a few bucks on Steam, usually cant go wrong with Pacman, but I hated it! It was like playing Pacman on bad drugs, just really really didn't like it' at all. Whereas the first Championship Edition I didn't mind, I think for me the second strays off course from...

Re: Billy Mitchell high scores wiped

Yep, King of Kong 2 is going to be a very interesting film when it comes out. I'm a bit gutted in so far as I really respected him for doing the first perfect game on Pac-Man. That is so stupidly hard to do. He did it 99 and when Jon Studley did it a year or two ago he was the 8th person ever. That...

Re: Billy Mitchell high scores wiped

Ive watched a couple of documentaries about him now, 'The King of Con' and 'The Perfect Fraudman' as well as seen his interviews on a couple of shows he did this year, and it is clearly evident that those that said he was portrayed in a bad light on King of Kong were quite wrong : he is much more de...
