Re: Retro Gaming Spotlight: Galaxian

Galaxian was the first arcade game I ever played, it absolutely blew me away. I can still kind of remember the experience, the incredible sounds coming from the machine, the aliens sweeping across the screen in terrifying fashion; I was transfixed after that very first turn, a lifelong love for vide...

Re: Retrogaming Spotlight: Donkey Kong

DK is a fascinating game - to me, the most rewarding of them all if you persist with it. I, like many others, found it too difficult, could never get off the first screen, couldn't get even near the 7500 'high score' the game initially starts out with and quite frankly, hated it for most of my life....

Re: The most disappointed you've ever been in a release

Cheers Matt, I mean I am glad there is the ability to 'remedy' the c64 mini but that's my point, why don't they do it in the first place, why not make a truly great joystick - its not like they don't have the ability, and surely the passion shouldn't be waning to undertake such a project in the fir...

Re: The most disappointed you've ever been in a release

Yeah, the bundled controller with the C64 Mini was a bit of a bust, but luckily it's got off the shelf support for a lot of alternates. Have a look on here, as you may already have something suitable to give it a new lease of life. https://gurce.net/c64mini/hardware_compatibility_lists As for the P...

Re: The most disappointed you've ever been in a release

I'm gonna to take a different angle and say the most disappointed I've been in a release in recent times is the PS classic mini console. From initial anticipation and pre ordering, to trepidation as Sony dragged the chain on the title list, to cancelling the preorder, then finding out what you'd ex...

Re: Retro Gamer Review Marks

I still haven't forgiven Darran for the 100% rating for Super Mario Galaxy 2... still waiting for an apology for that one! :D All that horrible jumping about, deserves no more than about 82% in my books. Funnily enough I got SMG-2 based on Darren's review of it, but haven't gotten round to playing ...

Re: Retrogaming Spotlight: Kung-Fu Master

This game, and Decathlon, were the first two ports I saw on the C64 that made me realise that my beloved Apple II had been surpassed in all ways, I couldn't believe how good even the C64 version was. And the arcade version of course is the best, still plays great to this day, love trying out all the...

Re: Retrogaming Spotlight: Kung-Fu Master

The sequel that never was........ Kung Fu Master II / Spartan X II Arcade Prototype https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Efr9EQkbCSQ Irem dumped it and went with Vigilante instead. Damn! That looks great, looks like a decent sequel, and I think Kung Fu Master was definitely a game that would have done w...

Re: From The Forum: 196

I don't want a PC Engine mini, I want a PC Engine Maxi! With Outrun! I cried buckets of tears in my youth knowing I had to settle for a dreadfully inferior 8-bit port whilst all those PCE kids were laughing merrily at my expense. I still need therapy to this day.

Re: Zzap! Annual 2020 kickstarter

Yep, you now get the keyring too! I did sign up, and got an earlybird special, which astounded me. Someone must have cancelled and I signed up at the exact right time as there was one sitting there. For good measure I decided to go and get the 2019 Crash annual, seeing I hadn't opted to buy the sec...

Re: Zzap! Annual 2020 kickstarter

^^ You were the one who got me on their last Kickstarter with praise about Fusion products and I must concur, I completely agree, great products and everything was on time with the last campaign, so I had to go again this time 'round. :) So thanks for the heads up, your advice was spot on. ;)

that's brilliant, I loved his column, always got a hearty chuckle to start off the mag which I do think is missed, I thought it made a big difference as it was the perfect start.
