Re: Why I stopped reading Retro Gamer

As above, I'm just so grateful a mag like RG exists, and really is an excellently produced magazine to boot and i'm not just saying that. The magazines we have here, in Australia, I have to say are rubbish in comparison and so I think perhaps people should really be a bit more grateful and perhaps j...

Re: ISSUE 82 - Official Feedback Thread

ok that cover will be hard to top but really there is only one way forwards now to beat it, and that is of course scratch and sniff; but when you open the flaps there aren't games behind them but WOMEN, and then when you.. ok seem to have gone off track a little here.. ahem, but really I do love the...

Re: Issue 82 delayed?

Who complained about the Gameboy cover? That was brilliant. Glad I wasnt around then, steam would have been coming out of my nostrils.

Re: Improving the magazine

I've no idea if it has been done before, but one thought I had was doing perhaps best-of's for things like graphics, sound, box art, things like that for instance. Off the top of my head you have Combat School intro music, Salamander game music, IO intro for best music on the Commodore-64 (no doubt ...

Re: More Vic 20 in the mag?

actually I was incorrect, it was I believe 8 powerpacks, and all in 2 weeks. Thankfully they come in handy though working or not, if the kids are ever out of line these things make a brilliant replacement for a cat-o-nine tails, just grab a handful of the cables at one time, swing around the head li...

oh brilliant, thank you Craig, I shall hunt this down immediately now. I've read bits about it's creation in Douglas Adams bio's but not much so I am looking forward to it!

Re: More Vic 20 in the mag?

The most interesting thing about the Vic-20 was how, no matter how many times it was replaced or repaired, the power pack never seemed to work. We went through something like 5 until we realised that ultimately, it wasn't quite worth it. The best games were Radar Ratrace and Arcadia; everything else...

Re: Games I would like to see in the magazine

heaven's above, where to start. Well I'll narrow it down to the most urgent at the forefront of my mind. Personal Nightmare (Amiga). Hard as hell but there's no other game quite like it. Resident Evil series. Probably not quite retro yet though but getting there. Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy (Ap...

Re: Issue 81 - Official Feedback Thread

With regards to Iain's Vic article, its funny how one man's meat is another man's poison, I thought it was the funniest and one of the best he's ever written, I was in stitches reading it.

Re: Issue 81 - Official Feedback Thread

I think that's one reason why the magazine is so important Craig, because really game creation is art from start to finish isn't it, and most people will play games, finish them, say thats great and move on to the next without even a hint of thought of the person/people behind it. Which of course is...

Re: Issue 81 - Official Feedback Thread

Loved the cover, just love the general professionalism and amount of effort and detail that goes into the whole mag each month, agree would love to see a point-and-click feature as adventure games are my faves, and need more funny letters in mailbag like the Vic-20 one. A staggering amount of games ...
