Re: Altered beast feature

hmm.. this game.. its weird. The thing is, it stood out at the arcade, it looked great, big interesting sprites and just looked different to everything else. But was just boring as hell in just about every conversion to home computer. Actually I havent played the arcade version in ages, might fire u...

Re: Albums that still sound modern

Well Joy Division had such an incredibly different sound even when they were first released, its just not possible for their sound to be timeless. I covered one of their songs, Isolation, even some of their melodies are simply timeless. Love Will Tear Us Apart is another, Transmission. Goodbye Yello...

Re: What would your ideal copy of Retro gamer include?

Oh wow.. I'd have to probably take a week to really plot out my perfect issue. But to throw something together at lightspeed - * The making of Beyond Castle Wolfenstein, where the guy got his idea from, how the speech was done and so-forth * Specials on Virtua Striker 2 (arcade), Wonderboy, Bubble B...

Re: Improving the magazine

The rule I like to use best to determine whether or not a machine is retro is the stepladder rule. If I start using a console or machine as a stepladder when changing lightbulbs, it is then deemed retro to me. The PS1 for example has recently just fallen under this category and held my weight up ver...

I'll definately second that. The PC story is a pretty interesting one I reckon, certainly worth more coverage I reckon.

Re: ISSUE 82 - Official Feedback Thread

I agree completely, I was brought up on the Apple II and the games were just so different in comparison with other system, it just played so differently, a lot of games seemed a little more "quirky" (although that could very well be because of a complete reliance on keyboard since the paddles had lo...

Re: ISSUE 82 - Official Feedback Thread

A good system with decent games completely lost to time was the Apple IIGS. Might be fun to cover, it didnt have a lot of games and they were all not bad, the only problem with the system was that Amiga and Atari destroyed it at the time by having better systems (although its said the IIGS' sound wa...

Excellent post Rodarkone. I just think that some people are plain spoilt/greedy, and that's simply all there is to it.

Re: Why I stopped reading Retro Gamer

As above, I'm just so grateful a mag like RG exists, and really is an excellently produced magazine to boot and i'm not just saying that. The magazines we have here, in Australia, I have to say are rubbish in comparison and so I think perhaps people should really be a bit more grateful and perhaps j...

Re: ISSUE 82 - Official Feedback Thread

ok that cover will be hard to top but really there is only one way forwards now to beat it, and that is of course scratch and sniff; but when you open the flaps there aren't games behind them but WOMEN, and then when you.. ok seem to have gone off track a little here.. ahem, but really I do love the...

Who complained about the Gameboy cover? That was brilliant. Glad I wasnt around then, steam would have been coming out of my nostrils.
