Re: School computers

I remember 'Pod' on our infant-school computers which I believe were BBC Micros ('Pod can.....', ) - a few of us did, I'm ashamed to say, derive some pleasure from making the poor little f*cker bawl his eyes out. My mum worked at the school (still does today) and so I also remember that we som...

Re: What Comics did you read as a kid?

I got every issue of 'Sonic the Comic' for a long time as a kid, loved it. I still have many of them today (the ones in reasonable condition with the covers intact that is, the rest I chucked) as I had thought about maybe eBaying them - but not too sure I want to part with them now!

Re: 19XX:WAD on Mame - PrintScreen of Hi-Score on 1 Credit

thought I might share this with you all too, so I've been playing mame for about 3 months now and I am 100% addicted, especially to the awesome array of Shoot'em Ups.... and since being a poor student for the past few months it seems to be the cheapest and most plentiful retro-gaming option/fix I c...

Re: What Films/TV Have you Watched Recently?

I rarely watch a great deal of telly, but really enjoyed a three-part comedy series that was repeated these last few weeks called 'Getting On' written by / starring Jo Brand. It's set in an elderly peoples' hospital ward and filmed in a similar documentary-style to the Office, The Thick Of It etc. I...

Re: Introduce yourself

Morning all! Off work and bored at home all day today waiting for the electricity people to come and change my bloody meter, have enjoyed killing a bit of time on the forum with you lot. And...love the RG mag guys. I'm Stu, 27 from Brighton. Do a dull NHS office job and play drums for a couple of lo...

Re: Worst beat-em-ups ever

I came across an absolute shocker of an arcade beat-em-up recently - if you use MAME give 'Dragon Master' by Unico a look if you can bear to. I had a bit of a giggle even at the character-select screen when these ugly, generic-looking characters popped up...and after picking one it pretty much conti...

Re: SOR2 - Best character

Love it...this one will always be a great way of killing half an hour no matter how many times I've knocked seven colours of sh*t out of Mr. X over the years! They're all good characters, but Max has been my boy right back since me and my brother (as Axel) used to regularly plough through SOR2 when ...

Re: I'm sorry

Nice one, I just fired it up and gave it a bash (did always keep seeing it in the list but never bothered with it until now) - cheers for the recommendation! Quite a fun little game ain't it...although there was only quite a small amount of that music I could take before the speakers went off  ...

Re: Stupid things people say when your playing games!

This thread's just reminded me of my dad during my period of Street Fighter 2 addiction on the Megadrive - utterly convinced that Ryu/Ken were repeatedly saying "I'm walking"

Re: What generation of Videogames do you think was the best?

Although I have fond memories of my old CPC, personally I'd have to say it's the 16-bit era for me - both in terms of the home systems and the arcade cabs of the time. I do own a PS1 (which I only got off eBay in order to play a highly recommended retro-looking RPG called 'Alundra' - GREAT game), bu...

Re: What game have you COMPLETED this week

Mornin'! Just joined you lovely lot on the forum, good to meet you all :-) Anyway, thought it was about time I revisited some of my old Megadrive RPG favourites and finished the quite brilliant 'Shining Force 2' this week. Was doing pretty well on the secret 'fight all the bosses at once' bonus batt...
