Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion

Two releases of interest on the eShop – Impossible Mission and Robocod. Impossible Mission looks like the version I had on the Vita, which was not as advertised. It was supposed to contain three versions – a new expanded game, the original game ‘enhanced’- original layout with the new graphics, and ...

Re: Konami Anniversary Collections

Well the arcade collection is simply most of the titles already released under the Arcade Archives banner, so they're decent versions, but it's a bit galling for idiots like me that have bought them all at £7.00 a pop. The CV collection could be alright, though having just released CotN and Rondo as...

Outrun < Turbo Outrun < Outrunners < Outrun 2

(All arcade, not counting console only spin off games like Europa & Battle Outrun)
I thought Turbo sucked balls when compared to the original. Still desperately hoping for an Ages port of OutRunners though. Amazing game.

Re: What are you currently playing?

Cursed Castilla EX on PS4. An amazingly good Ghouls 'n' Ghosts rip-off that presents a decent challenge without being quite as frustrating as its inspiration. These guys are also responsible for Super Hydorah, which is an amazingly good Gradius rip-off also as above. Really impressed with both games...

Re: Shooting Gallery Games Recommendations

Funnily enough, I've just mentioned Virtua Cop on another board. Perfection in both its layout and scoring system, but not quite as manic as some of the later stuff.

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion

Fast RMX - took me a while to get to grips with the speed must be my age :( - but it's a nice WipeOut clone. Stick with it! I picked it up not long after buying my Switch. I'd heard mixed reviews, which was off-putting, and it does truthfully take a while to get the hang of. But it really is good f...

Re: What are you currently playing?

Just about to finish up on Yakuza 6. Absolutely superb game, though I'm not really sure why. I mean, 70% of the game is fighting, and the engine is serviceable at best, wonky at worst. Just one of those games where the various different aspects make come together to make something far more enjoyable...

Re: Android handhelds

I was just looking at them myself, but I'm wondering if it's just easier to load up my phone with emulators and buy a decent controller? Due an upgrade soon, so I'm guessing the tech in them isn't really too far above what I'll be carrying around anyways. Do like the look of the 3DS-style GPD one th...

Re: How big are you expecting the PS4 VR to be?

Got one just before Christmas. Neat bit of kit that's unfortunately going to be used pretty infrequently by myself at least... Loving the Playroom. My kids (14, 9 and 4) absolutely love to join in with the dinosaur, cat and cowboy games, I'm already quite surprised how much play time we've had out o...

Re: Minor or lesser known Arcade Coin-Ops you really liked

I remember really loving the Castlevania arcade game that was under a different name. Never actually played it myself at the arcade, and only saw it once. But it looked really impressive. Got to play it in Mame32 decades later, and I completely suck at it. Which is odd as I'm really good at the res...

Re: What Are Your Favourite C64 Games?

In terms of stuff that I'd still play today.... Cliff Hanger: as prev mentioned, it's basically a Road Runner game that never was. Single-screen puzzle type thing with slightly odd movement Snare: top-down puzzle-shooty thing with an odd 45% screen flipping gimmick Samurai Warrior: excellent scrolli...

Re: Minor or lesser known Arcade Coin-Ops you really liked

I'm definitely going to have to try out that Turrican looking game. Some of mine: Saboten Bombers: absolutely frantic single-screen platformer that offers a different spin on the Bubble Bobble formula. AB Cop: already mentioned, al little-known Sega 2D racer/shooter, fast, flashy and fun as hell Ven...

Re: What are you currently playing?

Realised that for some odd reason I'd never played through the new 5th Episode on Duke Nukem 20th Anniversary. It's a mixed bag, there are a couple of levels with the same superb design as the originals, and a few that rely very heavily on cramped surroundings and monster closets. Still, it's been a...

Never mind Donkey Kong, I can see some very late nights now I have a portable version of Puzzle Bobble 2. Possibly my favourite puzzle game ever.

Original http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2018/11/out_run_is_the_next_sega_ages_title_racing_onto_the_switch_eshop Nice to see a re-release of OutRun, even though the music is remixed and the car model is changed up (understandable, they aren't gonna splash the cash for the Ferrari license). Wish t...
