Re: Shinobi vs Rolling Thunder

Tough Call for sure. Both very similar games in terms of gameplay. Both also very satisfying in terms of fast reflex duck, dodge jump n' shoot action. Both have great, memorable music too. Shinobi was an arcade staple for me back in the day too. Seemed like it was in every arcade hall back then. Nev...

Re: DC Thomson comics

I got my first Beano at some stage in 1984 while at home sick from school. I used to remember people brining me comics a lot when I was sick in bed with Flu or a tummy bug. I still have a load of the old ones I collected back then, the ones on the news print style paper. I used to get the Dandy and ...

Re: TurboGrafx/pc engine ebay version question

This is the version I got a couple of years ago. Pal Version. (telegames?) New out of the box with Blazing Lazers. Like above mentioned the wire on the controller was greasy from the runner having broken down over time. http://members.chello.nl/m.loermans9/turbografx_klein.jpg Possibly one of my fav...

Re: Sierra Games Reforms

the first LSL was the one Sierra title that I have the fondest memories of. Automatic bragging rights at school that I had access to it.. that is when I could get past the 1970's US-centric questions at the start. I discovered Space Quest soon after and really enjoyed the first 3 of those games. Kin...

Re: Finding receipts for games.

Yep. I have always put the receipt for games into the case, box or between the pages of the manual. I used to do it with CDs, Books, VHS video, Cassettes and Vinyl records too - Usually put them under the tray liner in CD. I still find them regularly, some going back to the early 90s. Kinda cool to ...

Re: What Comics did you read as a kid?

Oink was possibly the best comic I read as a kid. Totally nailed the kind of humor that appealed to me at that age (and the age I am now...). A friend still has isuue one and the flexi disc that came with. He can still be coerced into doing his own a cappella rendition when drunk. http://youtu.be/8R...

Re: Scariest gaming moments of all time

Doom was the first game that gave me that little adrenaline kick you'd normally get on a rollercoaster just before you go over the top into a dip. It still happens to me in FPS games the odd time when I fall from a height.

Re: Best or Worst of ZX Spectrum

I do not recall playing many ports or arcade conversions on the Speccy at the time but I do remember Operation Thunderbolt being surprisingly playable. Robocop too, out off all the other versions I played back then the spectrum version was by far my favorite.

Re: Scariest gaming moments of all time

Scariest moments for me were always with the commodore 64 when I bought full price titles as a kid. That moment when the first attempt to load fails. You'd plug out all the joysticks and try again. The suspense was nerve wracking waiting to see if it would actually work.

Re: Modding an Xbox

Ok, Thanks STVD. I've been meaning to give it another go. I'll have to investigate a PC based formatting option when I get a chance.

There is a guy locally who I think has a few mod chips for sale. I was thinking of going down the solder and screwdrivers route at some stage.

Re: Modding an Xbox

I've tried this recently to no avail. A softmod option. I cant get the xbox to format the USB drive I've hooked up with a special little cable. It just flashes continually. If I could do that I should be grand as I have copies of all the games that have the necessary exploits in them to jimmy in the...
