Re: Consoles on modern TVs

The N64 is almost unplayable on most modern HDTVs. Even with a RGB mod, it looks quite poor. Check some of my older posts where I compared N64 scart, s-video and composite on a HDTV. Other retro hardware holds up better on modern TVs - the Sega Megadrive and SNES in particular look lovely. However,...

Consoles on modern TVs

Just thinking of getting a modern day widescreen flatscreen TV to replace our 6 or 7 year old one, currently hooking up the N64 to it via a lovely S-Video adapter. Does anyone know if any current day TVs still have S-Video inputs on them? Has S-Video been deemed obsolete now and not supported anymor...

Re: Was there ever a starflight Making of in RG?

I don't think there was a full making of, but I do remember it having some column inches in an article at some stage. Barely, maybe a sentence or two. There was a tiny little section in the recent article on Electronic Arts I believe. And, oh look, yet another question & answer session with Greg Jo...

Re: Was there ever a starflight Making of in RG?

I'd be interested in reading more on Starflight - remember the first time I played the Mega Drive version. I was expecting a shooter, but I had a man in a spacesuit walking around. Stuck with it for a bit and suddenly it was three hours later... Yep, a deep deep game. Weeks and weeks of play from a...

Re: Was there ever a starflight Making of in RG?

Also, they've even interviewed one of the guys on the dev team for it a couple of times in the past. There's been a few mentions of Starflight dotted here and there within other articles but never a full article specifically on the game

Re: Was there ever a starflight Making of in RG?

I can categorically state there hasn't................. well i'm 99% sure. They don't seem interested in it. I've asked for one for ages now and been ignored, even written to the letters page and been ignored. It's one of the key influential space rpg games and considering when it was first made (19...

Re: Retro Gamer Issue 122 Official feedback

One little niggle is the size of the screenshots when comparing games on different machines - I like to be able to see the differences between the game on each machine (whole point of a comparison piece) but this is impossible when the screenshots are postage stamp size . I know there are constrain...

Heh, I used to play two-player co-op with my friend and we managed to get to a stage where there were little Pac-Men running around the planet surface! No idea how we got there as the beam laser was firing so fast it was like a solid line!

Re: Home Brew Section

I will always stick up for this section. The magazine is about retro gaming. So gaming on retro machines I think seems to fall under the remit, no matter when the games were made. It's as valid as when they covered MB Simon. Retro. Games.

Re: new magazine archive (PC / MS-Dos / 80s)

Unfortunately not sorry! I have some PCA (Personal Computing with the Amstrad) to put up, but basically otherwise just the PC Plus from about '87 up to about '91 or so.... getting there too, probably scanned a good ten more issues in since doing this post on here.
