Re: wii U

It’s very underrated, but as someone else said it’s not worth it if you’re not into Nintendo first party games. Luckily though there’s a diverse range available. * Super Mario 3D World - this is closer to a 2D Mario in 3D form than it is a full 3D Mario release (it’s basically about completing the l...

Re: Which mascot would you most like to see return?

The Ice Climbers. I don't know much about them to be honest and I wouldn't care to play the NES game. But I think Nintendo could use them in some interesting ways and ride the popularity of Super Smash Bros to kick start a 'new' franchise as they did with Kid Icarus. The more I think about this the...

Re: Retro Gamer 175

The price change is because it's a premium issue due to the inclusion of the calendar, just like the Super Play issue was a premium issue and cost a pound extra. It will return to £4.99 with the next issue. You won't notice it if you're a subscriber. It's highly unlikely we'll ever do a Christmas c...

Re: From The Forum issue 177 - 2018 retro wishes

A new retro inspired 2D Mario game. On the back of the success of Sonic Mania it’s be great to see Nintendo announce a Super Mario World inspired release. The gimmick would get lots of publicity I imagine and would surely do well from a sales point of view. C’mon Nintendo.

2018 gaming predictions

We’re at the end of the year, so just for fun what do you think will happen in the world of gaming in 2018? Here’s my predictions: * We won’t see an N64 mini, but a Gameboy mini will be released - I don’t think it’ll be a TV console, I’d imagine it’ll be portable like the original Gameboy but smalle...

Re: Gaming predictions 2017

Since we’re at the end of the year I thought I’d bump this to see how we all did. I think I did quite well! * It'll become abundantly clear that VR is NOT the next big thing - Don't get me wrong, I think we'll see a healthy stream of releases at first, but I think they'll be small games from smaller...

Re: Franchises and games you are surprised haven't returned

Pokemon Snap - It seems like the kind of game that would have worked well on the 3DS or even the Wii U. Heck, it could work well as a smartphone game. I hope to see it on the Switch, it could work well on that system too. Monkey Island - I’ve been convinced this WOULD return for years, but no such l...

Re: What are you currently playing?

A Hat in Time on PS4. One of the best games I’ve played all year. I highly recommend it. It’s easily the PS4’s best platformer.

Re: Your Game Of The Year?

Its harder to answer this question for 2017 than it has been in recent years, it’s been a quality year of gaming. South Park The Fractured But Whole was my RPG of the year. The writing is hilarious and the gameplay is just as good. A Hat in Time is the best indie game I’ve played this year. It’s as ...

Re: Sonic Mania (Brand New Retro Inspired Sonic Game)

I'm really enjoying the game. The special stages though are awful, I'm not enjoying them at all. I wish the blue sphere levels got you an emerald as I'm actually good at them! I hope we see a sequel, this has given me a taste for another MD style Sonic game. I'm seeing a lot of praise for the new le...

Re: Your fave Mortal Kombat

I thought Deception was great, I put hours into that. The originals were fun, but they haven't aged well. I also really like the reboots, but Deception edges it for me. It's packed with great content. Puzzle Kombat is genius.

Re: I miss unlockable fighters on fighting games

I was thinking the same thing recently. I felt it with the most recent Mario Kart too, everything is unlocked from the start which kinda kills the replay value for me. Finally unlocking Dr Boskonivich in Tekken 3 was a fantastic feeling, that game was all the better for its unlockables. Soul Calibur...

Re: What single game have you re-played the most over the years?

Good topic. I was going to say Final Fantasy VII, but thinking about it that might not be true.

It might actually be Sonic 3 & Knuckles, or maybe even The Secret of Monkey Island.

It's one of the three, I couldn't say for sure which, though...

Re: Final Fantasy XV

I'm finding it hard to get into. I want to like it and I don't exactly hate it, but there's nothing about the game that "grabs" me.

Re: Poor sequels

Sonic 3D - I was massively excited to play this. I shouldn't have been. It was absolutely abysmal, and a fitting start to Sonic's disappointing relationship with 3D gaming. Soul Calibur 3 - I really enjoyed Soul Calibur 2 and devoted hours of time to it. This game didn't mesh with me. Final Fantasy...
