Re: The Thing (1982)

I might have reduced my enjoyment by watching it TOO many times. I haven't seen in a a few years though, so it's probably time I went back to it again. I recommend watching the making of to see how all the effects were done. Fascinating stuff! I asked a colleague at work today to tell me her top fiv...

Re: Bullcrap gaming stories you heard as a kid

In about 1998, my friend told me about a game he had for the PS1, called Sledgehammer. It was basically a 3D GTA, where you could go where you wanted, do what you wanted, kill who you wanted, there were loads of different weapons and a whole city to explore. A few years later, and GTA 3 came out. Re...

Re: Which Console has the biggest worst / best game ratio

Interesting question. Although, as you say, the PlayStation seems a strong contender just because of the sheer number of games available for it, and the Wii also had a tremendous amount of shovelware and not nearly as many great games as the PS1, I don't think they can be the "winner" just because o...

Re: Any good free pdf mags/books about the 8 bit era?

Another vote for It's Behind You here, as I've mentioned in another thread recently. There are one or two highly technical sections that cover a few pages that went straight over my head, but he gives you fair warning and let's you know which bits you can skip over without missing out on the main st...

Re: Screenshot challenge.

Haha, Eastern Mind: The Lost Souls of Tong Nou.

I've actually never played it, but my friend Bruno used to write a blog called Easternmind in honour of this game, which had a suitably themed background, so I used to see this creepy green face very often :)

I am indeed Nathan Graves. What a great launch game! (if you ignore the RIDICULOUS screen at the time)

Re: Who am I ? The Videogame quiz

I am the main protagonist of my game. I am male. I debuted in the 2000s. I am human. I use weapons. I appeared in one game only. I did not appear on the PS2. I am a Nintendo character. (I'm interpreting "Nintendo character" as "a character in a Nintendo-system-exclusive game") My debut game was part...

Re: New "How To" section - what should it cover?

How about console mods? There must be a few that are simple enough to cover in a couple of pages. Adding a backlight to a Game Boy Color would fit (and it might be interesting even to those who don't plan to do it, but that's probably just my strange opinion). How about something like bleaching a PC...
