Re: Mel Smith dies of a heart attack aged 60

No-one mentioned him in the Unfunny Comedians thread, that says a lot about his talent. And we'll still get to see him every Christmas when the music channels play Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree. Even in that corniness, he is genuinely funny.

Couldn't agree more, far too young. RIP.

Re: Sega Saturn collecting thread

OMFG! Nothing like what I expected. Obviously I'd got the spelling slightly wrong, but I was close, just going off the sound test. He looks awesome. I wonder why he was removed from the PAL version. Is he superior to all the other characters? He looks like he might be based on a cartoon or Manga cha...

Re: What were the best game shops around your area..

In Chorley, we had Dave's Consoles and Games and A&B Games (run by a mother and son, if I remember rightly, Alistair and Brenda) Looking on Google Maps, if it wasn't for the Circus posters, you'd see those yellow signs either side of the window, showing Dave's has never become anything else since it...

Re: Screenshot challenge.

Artura on the ST is right.

Dang it. I didn't want to be too predictable and keep posting TI-99/4A screenshots.

Re: Amusing picture thread......

A friend of mine from the USA told about his good fortune at a yard sale. He picked up a bargain http://img.izismile.com/img/img6/20130717/640/the_yard_sale_bargain_that_just_keeps_getting_better_99ddx_640_01.jpg But he could hear something rattling inside... http://img.izismile.com/img/img6/2013071...

Re: Classic compilations

I think we'll all have to admit, though... probably the best compilation of all time was this one: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OcF1T31T3Vw/TeNjR01SqbI/AAAAAAAAHUE/G2A70BxU6mM/s400/codemasters+cd+games+pack.png £20 for 30 games? Inconceivable. Fast loading times, value for money, great games? Enough sa...

Re: Best compilations

The Biz! on the Spectrum was one of the best, 3 great games and 1 dodgy one, but that's what compilations were for, squeeze out a few sales of crap games by packaging them with some good ones. Konami Arcade Classics (also Spectrum) needs a mention, most of the games were good to extremely good, only...

Re: What's your favourite arcade game?

robocop 2 We're all entitled to our opinion, and I remember playing this on holiday in Tenerife simply because I only had two choices, that or Puzzle Bobble. But I am really surprised to find it in anyone's shortlist of favourite arcade games. I don't mean to sound like I'm devaluing your opinion, ...

Re: Screenshot challenge.

The "Ingrish" clue is throwing me, I suspect it's some kind of not-quite-making-sense title, like World Cup Carnival or Peter Shilton's Handball Maradona. But I know neither of them are management sims. It would be so ironic if I managed to guess the name of a football game. I hate football games ge...

"Retro Gaming" offers on play.com (today only?)

I know it sounds like a Spammy thread, but I just saw these, and figured somebody might possibly be interested. First off, some official "Retro Gamer" game packs... I didn't even know these were available! Retro Gamer's Classic Puzzle Games Volume 1 Retro Gamer's Classic Puzzle Games Volume 2 Retro ...

Re: Unfunny comedians

I cannot believe that no one has mentioned Brendan O'Carroll. The man responsible for Mrs Brown's Boys. For some reason my wife finds the show utterly hilarious, but then she also like Miranda. However, she hates Black Books, Blackadder and Red Dwarf, so I can completely discount her opinion. :D No...
