Re: What grinds your gears ?

My future stepson deleting my 5-year old save data from Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games on the Wii, claiming he did it "by accident". You have to highlight the data, press 2, then select yes you're sure... accidental? My arse. At one point with that data I was number 3 IN THE WORLD on Skeet Sho...

Re: Amazing Video game shops!

I'd have totally lost my mind at seeing so much in one display cabinet.

Thanks for sharing that. I trust you bought the lot?

Re: Games with bombs in

The bomb effect in Die Hard With a Vengeance (third part of Die Hard Trilogy) was awesome. Otherwise... "The World's most interesting bomb" on MDK. So interesting the enemies rush to stare at it close up before it goes bang. Or the nuclear bomb on Shadow Warrior, that's always good. I think also a s...

Re: Sega Saturn collecting thread

Tried that. There must be something I'm missing somewhere. I'm completely out of the loop with the Saturn and I've just got one. Save me reading through hundreds of posts, can anyone give me around 10 essential, affordable titles worth getting? Everyone likes doing lists right? :D Athlete Kings (Of ...

Re: Speccy VS C64 VS CPC

I voted Spectrum, simply for the reason that that's what I had and I played some great games on it. A friend had a C64, and sure, the colour was great and there seemed to be a lot more music, but the games seemed equal in terms of playability, if not slightly blockier and slower. Not much in it, rea...

Nicely done. Could have picked an easier game, though?

Re: What's your favourite arcade game?

I was such a sucker for anything robocop in the 1990s and for me rc2 was an addictive game not as good as rc3d though I can relate to that... probably watched the Robocop films more than any other. For me, though, the first Robocop arcade game was far superior. But as I've said before, the world wo...

Re: Sega Saturn collecting thread

I now have both the UK and JPN versions of Decathlete/Athlete Kings... And I can't get Kazami to appear. I've unlocked his sounds in the sound test, so any suggestions what I'm doing wrong?

Re: What hardware doesn't get enough love?

The TI 99 4a doesn't get a lot of coverage even thought it is the first 16 bit computer! I'll add my voice to that. http://www.fishsta.co.uk/tscan0006.jpg http://www.fishsta.co.uk/tscan0013.jpg http://www.fishsta.co.uk/tscan0014.jpg I have hardware available (computer, modulator, joysticks) and sev...

Re: 80s Arcade Screenshot Challenge

I was under the impression it was actually down to a bad phone line... Circuits, Circus... I remember reading that in Your Sinclair.

Strangely both Lost In Translation and Wikipedia talk about the "F1 Circus". Not being any kind of F1 fan, I couldn't possibly have an opinion. Except that F1's crap.

Re: 80s Arcade Screenshot Challenge

47.

45-48 seems to be the target score for 80's arcade heads, of which I'm definitely one.

Dirtfox got me, and Monster Bash. Can't remember now what the other one I got wrong was.

Re: Great videogame icons

Hoping to keep my post quite straightforward and understandable and free of ambuguity... here goes. 10 points - Mario. Instantly recognisable, enduring and as popular now as ever. 9 points - Sonic. The same, only less so. 8 points - Miner Willy. 8 bit hero and deserves more recognition in this moder...
