Re: Do some PS2 games not work on the slim PS2?

I tried "Activision Anthology" on my slim PS2, and it didn't recognise the disc as a PS2 disc. But I tried it my my friend's "fat" PS2 and it worked fine. I can confirm that 'Activision Anthology' works just fine on a PS2 slim and so do the none DVD games (the ones with that have blue discs). If yo...

Re: What games/consoles have you bought this week??

I got a Wii U! A local retailer was selling off all their stock cheap, NZ$149 for the basic and NZ$199 for the Premium Pack. I got the latter.

As someone who used to game a lot on the old black and white "compact" Macs, I'd definitely say resolution.

Re: Are storylines becoming more important than gameplay?

The only storyline to make me feel quite bad? The Purification quest for the DB questline in Oblivion :? I tried every which way to alter the outcome but in the end? The NPCs themselves were telling me I should do it :o bad times. Yeah, that sucked. I especially didn't like killing the "nice" assas...

Re: Do some PS2 games not work on the slim PS2?

It's possible that you may just have a ropey laser in your slim. Id go with this too. I had the same problem with a few of my discs, tried my spare PS2 and they were fine. Possible, but I tried lots of other games any every one worked fine, plus I even tried regular DVDs and they were ok too. Kind ...

Do some PS2 games not work on the slim PS2?

Anyone had issues like this? I tried "Activision Anthology" on my slim PS2, and it didn't recognise the disc as a PS2 disc. But I tried it my my friend's "fat" PS2 and it worked fine.

Re: XBoxLive sale next week.

Got Metal Gear Solid 2, 3 and Peace Walker HD for NZ$15 today :D Here in New Zealand we actually seem to be getting the best deal on some games, games that are US$4.99 are NZ$4.95 here, I think Microsoft forgot about exchange rates....

Re: EA to have microtransactions in all games

I listend to a clip of some EA dude saying for example if you run short of ammo in a game, you can just buy some. Why not just programme the game to make ammo pick ups more available when you're running low? Or does EA actually incur the cost of 'manufacturing' the extra digital bullets? I wo...

I see that EA have got their hands on Real Racing 3 on iOS, and surprise, surprise, it's "freemium"...

Re: Spelunky: ace retro platformy game XBLA July 4th

Spelunky is on sale this week through the Sales & Specials app on the 360 dashboard. An absolute bargain at 480 Microsoft Points (usual price is 1200). It's one of consolation prizes for losing on the scratchcard, along with N+ (320pts) and Limbo (480pts). Nice, I just picked it up. Weirdly, the Sa...

Re: The next XBox - Always online, no second-hand games...

I haven't read the whole thread so apologies if this has already been mentioned, but what is this "always on, no secondhand games" thing going to mean for the playability of games in the future? If Microsoft decide to stop their online service, are you left with a useless brick and unplayable games?...
