Re: NES video quality not as good as expected through AV out?

There's an old CRT in one of the bedrooms - I'll try the NES out with that. Still not sure why Shadow Warriors looks so bad compared to everything else though? I'm not sure either, i have the american version and its quite plain looking (and extremely tough) but the display seems fine. Watch a few ...

Re: FC Mobile 2 handheld console - music/game speed problem

Easy answer, those games are pal enhanced. They're speed corrected, ie the programmers took the time tweak the games to run as fast as their ntsc counterparts. So when you run them at 60hz they run 17-20% faster than they should. I have an ntsc nes and the uk version of Mario flew along so i had to ...

Re: NES video quality not as good as expected through AV out?

My guess(s), either the resolution it outputs is more suitable for your t.v to upscale, it has better native composite output or it uses a graphics filter. Until i do a bit more digging i can't be sure. I'll check youtube etc I still think you should get a crt for your retro gaming (if its convenien...

Re: NES video quality not as good as expected through AV out?

It's a Dingoo (A320): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dingoo It uses regular composite rca cables. Is your nes a pal system? as the Dingoo appears to be an ntsc system. That could be the difference, my ntsc nes looks way better than my pal one. It could also be that the composite video-out is just bet...

Re: NES video quality not as good as expected through AV out?

I'm bit surprised that your surprised. Your taking an interlaced composite video signal thats about half the resolution of the old style crt's and displaying it on a HD progressive television. Your Hd television has to de-interlace the signal and then up-scale it to, i imagine either 720p or 1080p,...

Re: A few questions about the Mega Drive II

We will have to agree to disagree. I can play all regions with no problems now so why would I shell out nearly 50 quid for a Mega Key converter or an extra 20 quid for a hard mod when there is no need as for 60 hz.. on a 14 inch crt thats about 25 years old really not faffed. Hey, no problems, i'm ...

Re: A few questions about the Mega Drive II

I've just checked this today TMSS actively blocked Onslaught and Ishido from working in the TMSS Megadrive that I have (which is as it should be as they are both early Accolade games). On the same Megadrive Thunderfox (Genesis) wont run, neither will Midnight Resistance, Race Drivin Rampart (Genesi...

Re: A few questions about the Mega Drive II

I swear blind that the TMSS (Never realised it had a name) makes it harder to play imports, from experience if a cart doesnt work on any of my other Megadrives, MD2, MD1 with TMSS and so on then The megadrive without it gets an airing. Unless there is an issue with the converter ( which Ive now res...

Re: A few questions about the Mega Drive II

Ok. a lot of misinformation here. First of all tmss has nothing to do with region protection, it was simply a method sega used to prevent unofficial games being released. Google tmss and sega and you'll find out all you need to know. The megadrives region protection is not related to the model versi...

Re: A few questions about the Mega Drive II

Not to put you of but the Megadrive 2 has horrendous sound compared to the Model 1.
There's quite a few comparison video's on youtube.
The exception is if you have a Va3 or Va4 motherboard, they're much better but also quite rare.
I guess it depends whether or not you care.

Re: Dead Carts (Megadrive Snes Other)

I've only ever had one dead cart so they're a rarity for me. Even the 2600 games i bought have all worked. It seems strange that a rom should fail, makes me wonder if its the consoles themselves are failing and killing the carts. If the consoles voltage regulators begin to fail that could explain it...

Re: Anyone annoyed with the SNES hardware (yeah right!)

The snes cpu has been a bugbear of mine for years. If nintendo had used a decent 68000 the snes would have been incredible. As it was the system was very limited, i'm not saying it didn't have incredible games as it did. However they had to use a dsp in the first generation of games, i think that sa...

I quite like the controllers! Compared to the Intellivision ones they're an aesthetic work of genius! :)
