Re: Super Castlevania - First Impressions

My introduction to Castlevania 4 was as follows. I heard my local import shop had some new games in so i decided to go take a look. I got out of work early (about mid day), bought Contra 3 and headed home, wow, Contra 3 was incredible. My friend called over and after playing 2 player (for about 2 ho...

Re: How good is the commodore 64

Back around 1984-1986 the C64 was the system i dreamed of owning. Time goes by and i eventually get one in December 2009. Even after 2 decades i wasn't disappointed, thats how good it is. Amazingly nearly all the tapes i have work but they're just to slow and i can't be bothered with the disk drive....

Re: atari 2600 connecting to a new tv??

Modern tv's are hit and miss with older consoles. My understanding is that the inbuilt scaler hardware/software has to have algorithms for exact refresh and resolutions in order to work. These are required for correct deinterlacing and upscaling. If your tv doesn't support the mod you imput then its...

Re: Toploader NES Help

You'll need to do a composite mod to get the best out of your toploader.
A simple google search should throw you the right results, its well documented.

You're correct about the power supply, i use a uk snes power supply without issues on my American nes.

Re: Colecovision

The Colecovision is a great system, well worth collecting for. The power switches are prone to problems, nothing that can't be fixed but you might want to confirm with the seller that the system is fully tested even if the auction states the system works. There's pal and ntsc composite mods so that ...

Re: PAL NES games too Slow.. NTSC advice needed!

Just to clear up the power supply query. A Uk nes requires 9v Ac, a Us Nes requires 9v Ac so its a total match, a uk snes/nes power supply works fine. This is the way it is for all consoles that use an external power supply, match either AC or DC, Voltage (and polarity on a DC adapter, Ac has no pol...

Re: Why are some NES games SOOOO SLOW???

Agreed, you need an ntsc system.
If you do get one be aware you need a tv that accepts ntsc via composite and that some of your Pal games won't run correctly.

Re: Famicom to NES adaptor not working?

You got me, the only other thing that i can think of is that the game should be put on backwards.
On my adapter the back of the game is facing me.
I don't know if you do this whether or not the game will fit into the nesthis way but it'll only take you a minute to try it.
Let me know if it works.

Re: Famicom to NES adaptor not working?

Isn't that a bit of an obvious design flaw then? Surely no one would have ever been able to get this adapter to work if that’s the case? I will open it up and have a check though. Its hard to describe what i mean but i'll try. I have an adapter thats the reverse of what you have, ie to play nes gam...

Re: Famicom to NES adaptor not working?

I have a feeling that the cartridge pin connecters aren't long enough on the adapter.
Have a look at the nes end and see if the contacts stop short of the plastic.
If they do thats the issue.

Re: FC Mobile 2 handheld console - music/game speed problem

Ah right, that's interesting - thanks for the info F-zero, you seem to be quite an expert on the NES! So the one's that seem to play at 'normal' NTSC speed on my hand-held are actually the ones that aren't enhanced? Would be interesting to locate/compile a list. I wonder if certain developers were ...
