Re: What is considered retro?

understood, but that's just silly. read my last edit. who knows how long any system will last. the c64 lasted commercially over 10 years for sure, at least with the major software houses.

Re: What is considered retro?

The mag has a '10 year rule' for retro, I believe What does this rule mean. Anything beyond this strange 10 year gap either-side isn't considered retro? The C64 is now nearing 30 years old. This is not making any sense still :( As I said before. It should only be considered retro when a system beco...

Re: What is considered retro?

Anything that becomes obsolete by hardware/main software companies should automatically become retro. The classic Xbox is now retro as no more games are being commercially released for it just like the Commodore 64 (except by the fanboys). It's just plain common sense.

Re: What is considered retro?

OK.

I feel once a gaming system is officially announced obsolete by the manufacturers and then shortly after by software houses, that it automatically becomes a retro system. I think it's fair enough.

Re: What is considered retro?

i'm not too worried too. PS1 I consider retro now. Again it's timeline.

But the moment we start talking PS3, XBOX360, Wii etc then this is the wrong site, for now.

Re: What is considered retro?

That's a shame. because before we know it, consoles yet to be realised could eventually be considered retro too. The fun of retro is slowly sadly being lost already and it's putting all the classics in the shade for modern more unimaginative commercialism gaming. Many of which were programmed at hom...

What is considered retro?

Honest question. I see lots of chatter about Xbox360, PS3 and Wii etc. I just feel retrogamer is losing the plot a little. Is anything considered anything even under a year old retro nowadays? This isn't a dig to all the modern console fans btw, but over time modern systems "seems to be" taking more...

Re: Worst games mags

Later issues of Your Commodore (About 1990 onwards) were really awful. Terrible reviews and an attempt at trying to cover music/video reviews. They awarded Last Ninja 3 100% in one issue, and a lot of 30-40% worthy games were getting scores of 80% or more. It died a death around September 1991 when...

Re: My review deleted...Why?

Where's my Commodore 16 review of Uwol: Quest For Money?, you bastards :x

Seriously. I don't understand it. There is no duplicate review. Is it because it's a newly released game? I would still class it down as retro. It's a shame I didn't keep a backup of the review :(

If only Summer Games were released on the C16 :(

I know you really meant Summer Events which is our version of it ;)

An amazing looking and playable game which was sadly only released near the end of the C16's run.

Re: Paper Boy - The Conversions

Commodore 16 version is the worst version... by a long way. It wasn't great was it, but tbf it could've been a whole lot worse with the amount of memory the C16 has. There are actually worse C16 arcade ports (particularly the Konami conversions) so some kudos for effort. Although it would've felt a...

That crown imo still belongs to Udo Gertz for Tom Thumb, a massive single-load game which paradoxically works on an unexpanded C16 too.

but AIT is a very good second place :D

Re: The dumbest thing you ever did

Just like Romulous I also blew my C64 using the paperclip method. Only I got the instructions from Commodore User magazine, and I decided that it was a fantastic idea to experiment touching different pins to see what response I would get. Oh I got a response alright. kaBOOM! Not only this, but I was...
