Re: John Lennon - Your Thoughts

I've tried many times (And being a huge Oasis fan you think i would love the Beatles) but i dont know, it just sounds old fashioned and 'music for my parents'. Do appreciate how many hits they had and back then in the 60's i can see why they were soooooo huge compared to the music before. But i jus...

Re: Commodore 16

The Dizzy games were not officially released for the C16/+4. The versions we now have are later fanmade C64 ports which will only work on the Plussy or on an upgraded C16. Thrust was Firebird's best C16 game, but there was a graphics glitch which made the screen flicker quite badly. Fortunately last...

Re: Coin op you stuck the most cash in?

Trying hard to recall. Not sure exactly if I put more money in one machine than the other, so here's my list which had me piling in the 10p pieces.

Wonderboy
Wonderboy in Monsterland
Mappy
Star Wars
Space Invaders
Moon Cresta
Double Dragon
Super Don Quixote (nearly beat it)

Re: Commodore 16

@Shinobi. Most of the games you've mentioned have now been transferred onto casseette ready for posting along with the others when I'm next in town. You'll love the new added music in Tower Of Evil, which will now only run in 64K. The regular C16 version just has some simple standard blip noises. Sa...

Re: Do Games Get Better With Technology?

That's like asking "Do you think that new current chart music and music in the last (say) 5 years is better than old music? On a whole, no. Recording techniques may have improved but much of it is just derivative rubbish. some are OK but nohing groundbreaking or memorable. A minority of newer songs ...

Re: Great Retro-gaming websites - the sticky thread!

Well all my past and future Commodore 16/+4 articles have been and will be from now on condensed into one index page now as it became a pain to search the entire site for them, the link is in my signature below. I always add my reviews there too as well as here, but on my page I also give them ratin...

Re: Poll - Do you play new releases?

I voted yes solely for the older obsolete platforms, as new releases are being released to this day whether it's free or not. I'm not so struck by the 1990's+ console systems as over the years they lost something important along the way for me, but there has been some great games such as COD, the or...

Re: What is considered retro?

Where do you buy these new Commodore 16/+4 games from? Still trying to track down Ghost Town and Terra Nova again as mine have gone walkabout, some new games for it would los be nice Now and again a C16/+4 enthusiast will create a new game where it would be freely spread on the Commodore16 and plus...

Re: What is considered retro?

The odder thing is, I submitted a brand new C16/+4 game for review not so long ago, but it was rejected likely because it was a new release, but it was for an old classic computer. It's such irony and something this site should consider. Not wanting to sound like a troll here, but are you sure it w...

Re: Worst Game You've Ever Completed?

Terra Cognitia Commodore 16 not as good as the Darlings make it out to be OK it's a little easy once you figured out the map route (which is identical as the C64 version), but Terra Cognita is a great little game for the humble C16, and far superior to the awful Speccy version  Check out my ...

Re: What is considered retro?

Technical accomplishments means nothing at all for a bad game. In the last 35 years there is nothing new here. I just keep retro for an obsolete system no longer being manufactured with no commercial games being released by the commerical software houses, that becomes strictly for fanboys only. Ther...

Re: What is considered retro?

i gotta maybe disagree. we're talking timelines again. If only retro games such as Pac-Man, Galaxians, Space Invaders, Donkey Kong etc were released on future consoles without anymore innovative game ideas, what would we think then? Perhaps it's more the game designs that are more considered retro, ...

Re: What is considered retro?

forget timelines. just when it becomes obsolete both in official commercial hardware production and commercial software releases, that's when it really becomes retro. you just can't place a figure on these things.
