good use of sounds It seems that the sound wasn't working on the emulator then. One thing about the Speccy version is that about every 20 seconds a "P" would appear, so if I was having a problem getting to a few bombs, I'd just wait a few seconds, get a "P", then finish the level. Mighty Bomb Jack ...

I think I'll try it on MAME tonight and the Amiga (I think it's called Mighty Bombjack, but I don't know what the difference is) and see how they compare. I have a feeling that when I tried it on MAME, I was slightly disappointed. I think the music was different or worse than on the C64. The game it...

That's great!

Silly Klaus :D

It's like something Peter Jackson would have made in his "Bad Taste"/"Braindead" days.

Well, I've just played the C64 version of Bombjack and then the Spectrum version. I don't know what to say really, without upsetting people... C64 version: Fun to play; difficulty just right; graphics good (and colourful); good music. Spectrum: Extremely easy (and boring because of it); horrible mon...

If the only Amiga one was Bombo, then it was the C64 one that I liked. I liked the music too.

I'll have to play it again and see if I still like it.

I agree, you had to be there to fully appreciate the games. Anyone these days playing the C64 versions of Ghostbusters or Impossible Mission cannot really understand how amazing it was to hear the speech and see the amazing animation of the IM character. Same with the music. When I first saw a C64 a...

I may be getting mixed up with the Amiga version (if there was one), but I'm sure the version of Bombjack that I liked was the C64 one. It had music that I think was composed by Jean-Michelle Jarre.

When I get home I'm going to have a go on the C64 version to see if that's the one I liked.

Yep, that's better.

My avatar was deleted from my profile, but I've just uploaded it again and it's back. It looks like a lot were Zzap'd (couldn't resist) when the change was done.

On a related topic, could the colour of the scroll bar be changed so we can see it. At home this isn't a problem, but at work I don't have scroll wheel on my mouse. When I want to scroll down I miss the bar, and I end up jumping screens at a time. Most annoying.

This is a VERY difficult question to answer. It's between the C64 and the Amiga. When I got my 64 it was amazing. The sound! The graphics! The games! When I got a 1541 and an Action Replay cart to put them on disk it was even better. Those days will always be special and waiting excitedly for the ne...

To me, Retro is the time of the 8-bits - mainly the C64 and Spectrum days or older. I don't really think of the Amiga as very retro, since 5 years ago I was still using my A1200 every day. I would like the Amiga to feature in the mag though. Anything after the Amiga 1200 I don't see as retro (PS1 et...

Out of the three I've had (2600, PS1, PS2), I'd have to say the PS2 has been my favourite.
