Re: What Films/TV Have you Watched Recently?

To be fair, Lost World is a decent sequel that was at least based on a Michael Crichton book (as was the original movie) and only changed the ending to add a bit more 'Hollywood' to the formula. A bit ?! The film is damn entertaining, mind you. I remember having to sit in the front row when I went ...

Re: Best Online Retro Service

GOG is by far the best service, with DRM-free installers, but its game selection is seriously slanted towards 90s PC stuff - it's heavy on graphic adventures, simulators and wargames and a bit light on anything action-y. But there are excellent bargains and bundles to be had. And it's got RealMYST ....

Re: SEGA 3D Classics series (3DS)

I've also got it, and been trying to set up the controls to something I can use comfortably. Particularly annoying that in some games the 'X' button is fixed. I set the gear change in Power Drift to toggle, but oddly you still have to assign two different buttons to it. Having it stay in high gear f...

Re: Games that are better on inferior hardware

No it isn't! Though Sonic II on the MS was pretty damn good. Mind you, Sonic on any 8-bit or 16-bit console is odds-on better than Sonic on any console that has dedicated 3D hardware. The only one I've got is that Commando on the Speccy was way better than any other version, particularly the arcade ...

Re: How big are you expecting the PS4 VR to be?

Darran, I hardly starting moaning about VR just said I had no interest personally I don't think there is anything wrong with that. It is a shame that you felt the need to somehow name and shame me, I have bought well over 100 issues of Retro Gamer over the last 12 years and bought several bookazine...

Re: SEGA 3D Classics series (3DS)

The 3D Classics Collection is now available on the Australian e-shop, I guess it will be available in Europe too? Can't wait to play Power Drift again. 8) Is it a single download of the entire bundle, or spearate games? I think if you can't download individual games I'd rather have the cartridge. A...

I read a piece saying it encourages groping, when in fact the girls tell you to pack it in and swat you away if you try.
So actually the writer was admitting he's being a sex pest, entirely of his own volition.

This is what the character models look like http://images.17173.com/2016/news/2016/08/29/wjm0829quivr03.jpg Not really sure how you can realistically grope someone with that I had a quick look and found this screen grab: http://cdn.akamai.steamstatic.com/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/25423482/...

Re: tomb raider 20 years old

I saw it and even played a brief demo, but I didn't really 'get' it. The demo was in a fairly ropey enclosed space with a blocky stair and jump to get out, and it just highlighted how annoying the camera and controls could be as you achieve very little. It wasn't until someone lent me a copy of the ...

Re: Invading other player's space in games?

From a first-person view I think it would be. But it's always been done in games that detach the player from the body and leave them viewing from outside - the effect simply wouldn't have worked otherwise. The other thing games could do is simply make anything like a hand or leg just stop moving if ...

Re: Invading other player's space in games?

The article says there's a visible hand. But any object that appears to be where you believe part of your body to be is going to be a weird sensation. But yes, any public multiplayer game that allows such close interaction needs a way to block, ignore and report another player for any sort of offens...

Re: When did you find out...

It wasn't until I tried (and failed) to learn Greek a few years ago that I realised the lettering on the cover image for Rasputin on the Spectrum was the cyrillic way of writing 'RASPUTIN', 'РАСПУТИН'. Also, that means 'ПУТИН' is 'Putin'. And that backwards 'R' in Toys'Я'Us is actually pronounced 'Y...

Re: How big are you expecting the PS4 VR to be?

It seems a bit quick to me to have bought one and be tired of it already, but if it's genuinely causing headaches then I can understand. I haven't used this one but I have tried the last demo version of the Oculus Rift. The sense of being somewhere else is amazing. But the sensation of being in a ve...
