Re: Best MAME Shmups ?

Boogie Wings/The Great Ragtime Show - A completely bonkers shmup from Data East, it has a unique weapon- the Sky Hook, which can drop bombs and latch on to enemy fighters so you can hurl them at each other- and the fight doesn't end once you're plane's down, as you continue on-foot and can steal ex...

Re: Streets Of Rage or Final Fight

Surley Final Fight must loose points for Final Fight Streetwise? and streets of rage for being left to rot for nearly 20 years ? at least final fight was still alive and street wise wasnt half bad I agree with this- I played through Streetwise over the course of a weekend and had quite a bit of fun...

Re: Best pick up & play GBA games?

Puyo Pop. Great for a quick game against the computer or by yourself. Also seconding Final Fight especially since it keeps track of what level you're on if you switch it off.

Re: What games/consoles have you bought this week??

It was free with OPSM (#36 I think) Aha, excellent, just the kind of info I was looking for. Thanks! Theres a guy down my local market selling one for a fiver. Priced the same as his actual copies of tekken. I dont think hes aware that its only a demo! Either that or he's like a few eBay sellers wh...

Re: Trog!

I think the most interesting thing about the game (the arcade version, at least) is its tortured development (scroll down to Trivia) which was thwarted by kids vandalising the machines and a disastrous location test. The original prototype of the game (playable in MAME) is actually very different fr...

Re: What games/consoles have you bought this week??

Well, this is a strange thing I found today: http://img43.imageshack.us/img43/7647/img2011042600038.jpg It's a Special Collector's Edition!... of a demo of Tekken 3. This must've come with Official Playstation Magazine at some point. The demo has two playable characters and a trailer of sorts for th...

Re: Yars revenge remake

This came out yesterday, by the way. Did anyone notice? It's actually not completely awful. I think what they were going for was a twin-stick version of Panzer Dragoon (one stick aims, one stick moves, with an extremely useful 'evade' button that lets you zip across the screen) and it kind-of works,...

Re: Streets Of Rage Remake Final Released

Anybody got a newslink with an actual quote from Sega on this? All the reports I've seen cite the devs as the source that Sega pulled it. This is probably all we'll get , a fairly standard reply: SEGA is committed to supporting any fans that take an interest in our games, and where possible we do s...

Re: A game everybody likes...........?

This thread is like a whack-a-mole game. Every time a possible contender raises its head, BAM, someone strikes it down!

On topic, the only game I can think of where I've genuinely never heard a bad word about it is Robotron: 2084 (although doubtless I'm going to hear some now).

Re: Streets Of Rage Remake Final Released

Completed one route last night (SOR1 route, then switched to SOR2 for the easier last stage). This is an incredible piece of work just for the sheer amount of stuff therein, and if you liked the prototype, this is massively improved even from that (the sprites in particular are a huge improvement, e...

Re: Find Game For Me Please.

You sir, are a TOTAL STAR! :D No problem, glad to be of assistance! Besides, it's reminded me that I need to get my own copy of the game... I love the way that no game seems too tricky for this board :) I do have a couple that I'd like identifying but I cannot be very precise atall. One day I might...

Re: Screenshot challenge.

Nope, not P.O.W. either, although maybe all these 80s tough guys are all from the same family. The clan of Bandana McAsskick.

Gonna put this one to sleep and give it away- TurboGrafx game by Data East, available on the Virtual Console.

Quite an uncanny resemblance there! But it's not right.

This should make it easier.
