Re: Save our forum!

I'll be straight up and say that when this forum adopted its new rules, I decided (and said) that I would leave and not come back as I didn't agree with it. That said, I guess I lied (as Arnie famously says to Sully in Commando!) because I check the games section on here a couple of times a week of ...

Re: Streets of Rage 2 - Runs Slow WTF?

I have switch-modified Mega Drive and it's great. Many games will change between the English and Japanese versions using the region switch though this obviously doesn't work on games like Streets of Rage 3 which were intentionally censored/altered for the West.

Re: Save our forum!

Just viewing Retro Canteen and I can’t see the forums looks like I’ve been banned for some reason. It's just locked to anybody that isn't signed up as a member, Shin. Has been for a while now I think. I don't personally agree a forum should be set up like that but an influx of joke/spam/troll accou...

Re: What games/consoles have you bought this week??

Ouch, can't believe Gamecube games are valued that high. Had I known you were after this game, i would have sold you my copy of Twin Snakes for £41, cos what are old forum frenemies for eh?! Yeah, GC games have been expensive for years. I had Twin Snakes once upon a time and paid a high price (£30+...

Re: Buying CD's

I think Amazon does something similar, too. Yeah it's quite cool because you can get at your music immediately while also eventually getting a proper CD. As I said above, it's sometimes (bizarrely!) possible to get this combo cheaper on Amazon than buying the download version on its own. Rip lots o...

Re: Buying CD's

When I buy music which isn't very often, I definitely buy CDs (not CD's though ;-) ). I rip at higher audio quality than you get from downloads too. Same. I rip them as .wma with Media Player, the only issue being that my Android phone doesn't support the file and auto-converts it to something else...

Re: Playstation Vita games discussion thread

Shop to net are cheap I get most of my Vita games from them. I saw both those games your after in CEX Ultimate MvC3 was cheap and I’ve yet to see a Vita game they charge more than £20 for I'll have to have a look when I next can then. Only issue for me is that the CEX is a pain to get to in the tow...

Re: Video/Computer Game History Books

Also checking out the Playstation Anthology currently, this book looks rather gorgeous Got a link to that one? Only ever had the RG bookazine thing when it comes to Playstation "books" but I got rid since most of the articles were of no interest to me or covered games that I'd heard way too much ab...

Re: MAME - what do you use?

I was always really rubbish at downloading MAME and roms, living in concern of downloading something from a dodgy source and having to deal with viruses etc. so the version I have is pretty ancient now. Any recommendations on decent controllers to use with MAME on a PC? I did have an official USB Se...

Re: Playstation Vita games discussion thread

Xtreme 3 turned up today. Shocked that it arrived so quickly from Hong Kong (around 3 days if that) so if anybody wants to buy stuff from "buy2game" on ebay? I can recommend them and their delivery speed! Ironically, I was posting elsewhere about how expensive Vita gaming is but then I dropped £40 ...

Re: What's Your Favorite Driving/Racing Game Ever?

I am a self-confessed petrol-head in real life but I do also enjoy arcade-style racers. If I had to choose just one game then it would probably be Enthusia on the PS2 - a very underrated Gran Turismo competitor with amazing visuals (for the PS2 era), realistic handling/physics, great selection of ca...

Re: Playstation Vita games discussion thread

Recently downloaded the original Crash Bandicoot for my Vita. Another one of those games that's a pain in the ass to get hold of and required purchasing from the web version of the store and downloading from my download list on the Vita. It doesn't appear when browsing the store on the Vita and also...

Re: PS3 Help - YLOD!! :-(

If it comes to the worst and you aren't afraid to take it apart yourself (there are many Youtube videos on the subject) then you might be able to get it working again long enough to back up saves to a FAT32 formatted external HDD or USB stick. Sometimes it is as easy as replacing the thermal paste b...

Re: Yet Another Mega Drive Collection

This would actually be a decent buy for me since the last time I bought a Mega Drive compilation was the PS2/PSP versions so I missed out on all the extra games added into the PS3/360 edition. On the other hand, I can't help but agree that the same stuff is just being dragged out over and over. I kn...
