Re: Sony announces Playstation 1 Classic

Loving the video ad that keeps popping up in Youtube that begins with "in the beginning there was nothing" as if PS1 was the start of gaming

Re: New PS2 Games

Did they have the silver Sony seal sticker thing on the case? Also, the tear strips used to have the 'PS2' logo on them though I'm not sure every release did (depending on publisher/distributor). I don't think publishers "sell" the rights for somebody else to reprint their games but it HAS been know...

Re: What games/consoles have you bought this week??

£20 on Switch The last boss is one of those SNK bosses that seems to have endless combos that drain the life bar and end up with a super finish YOu can only win a fight with one for some asinine reason I don't have a Switch so I checked the PS4 digital version and, well...it's £44.99 on the Playsta...

Re: Sony announces Playstation 1 Classic

Posted this elsewhere but oh well. Consider the current going rates for these three games alone: Revelations: Persona - £80-£100 for an NTSC copy (didn't come out in PAL) Resident Evil Director's Cut - around £20 (prices varies wildly but £20 is the average) Wild Arms - £20-£30 for PAL So there's so...

Re: What are you currently playing?

Soulcalibur VI. It is pretty bloody good as well. Best one in the series since SCII & III as far as I'm concerned. Everything that was awful about SCV (so most of it then) has been binned.

Re: What games/consoles have you bought this week??

^^^ Going to have to look at how much the PSN version of that costs. Was going to buy an import PS4 copy since they canned it for the West (outside of the expensive special edition) but kinda don't want to be locked out of the updates/DLC. I know the game won't be anywhere near as good as KOFXIV but...

Re: gamesTM and GamesMaster to end

Suppose it's sad but it's also inevitable.

EDGE needs to go if it hasn't already. Pretentious, up itself industry talk that directly counters the idea of videogames being for entertainment and fun.

Re: Sony announces Playstation 1 Classic

I'm with kiwimike on this one. Was definitely interested in this device as soon as it was announced because I've always been a Playstation man since the PS1 days BUT I'm not going to be some sort of fanboy mug who pre-orders just because it's a Playstation product, heedless of what the actual includ...

Re: Photo's of your retro collection.

This is everything I currently own. Shame about the lack of PROPER retro but stuff was sold off a long time ago due to either not being used or being worth too much money to just have sitting on a shelf when I have other things to pay for. No fancy storage or displays here I'm afraid! Gamecube colle...

Re: What are you currently playing?

Need for Speed Underground 2 (PS2) - I passed over this when it was current because of all the chav and EA shovelware connotations but that was a serious mistake! Aside from some dodgy music (there ARE a few good tracks...), the game is really enjoyable with great, varied racing, a nice free-roam a...

Re: What System would you like a 'Classic' console for?

Saturn all day long. Fill it with the games that are stupidly expensive and rare and I would be there day one.

A 3DO one full of fantastically crappy FMV games would also be ace though I'd probably be the only one why buys it! Plumbers Don't Wear Ties needs a re-release...

Re: Sony announces Playstation 1 Classic

I'm interested but only if it comes with some serious value i.e. games that are otherwise rare or very expensive to buy. Wild Arms was a good start because that's a £20-£30 game for the PAL version. Let's see what the rest are! Unfortunately it will probably be mainstream, popular stuff that people ...

Re: What game have you COMPLETED this week

Urban Reign (PS2) - 100 missions all done. Mission 98 was utter, utter hell and I must have spent an hour (at least) trying to beat it. Great game though, just not the beat 'em up that I expected in a way. Might go through the free play mode now to unlock the rest of the characters. I've managed to...

Re: What are you currently playing?

Been playing Urban Reign on PS2. Surprisingly challenging and doesn't follow a typical beat 'em up structure as I expected. Also it takes 30 missions before any sort of story cutscene and before you get to use two characters for team-up special moves. Multiplayer for the story mode is also off-limit...

Re: GBA Collecting

One way to avoid the fakes a lot of the time is to stay away from US copies with the ESRB ratings logos and the 'Advance' part of the Gameboy Advance on the box in black. Not saying that fakes of Euro GBA games don't happen but for some reason, most of them are knock-offs of the US editions. And in ...
