Re: What are you currently playing?

More Alpha 3 Max. Dared to play as Rainbow Mika again and, yep, the 360s (and 720s for supers!!!) are hell on the PSP d-pad. Take so much damage while trying to pull the moves off that it's not worth it. Performing the moves while jumping is the only reliable way to get them to work but it's obvious...

Re: Streets of Rage 4 officially announced!!!

Was tempted by a physical copy but I've heard rumblings of DLC/updates so a disc version would end up being pretty redundant in the long run. It's something that I've come to consider when going out of my way to buy physical keepers for the shelf.

Re: What are you currently playing?

Some Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max on PSP, cheesing it as Shin Akuma.

As ever, I want to play as Mika, but I can't be doing those 360s on the PSP d-pad...

Re: What's the most iconic retro game that's actually rubbish?

Re. Mario 64, I don't think that a game should be above criticism or considered untouchable purely because of what came after. Lots of games were ground-breaking or important for their respective genres but aren't necessarily great games. Many games get put on pedestals and revered for what they did...

Judgement ps4. It's gone down to a tenner on psn which is cheapest I've seen it.
Got excited then until I saw that you'd bought it on PSN! The retail copy is still nearly £30 on Amazon and ebay.

Re: The New gen thread PS5/XBOXsX (feat PONG)

I'm wondering if the "no next gen exclusives" promise will actually hurt MS during the first 18 months. I mean, if Halo Infinite is also on Xbox One S/X (because it will be X enhanced, the backlash if it isn't will be intense and damaging), then that lessens the "need" to upgrade to Series X/S, IMH...

Re: What's the most iconic retro game that's actually rubbish?

My more knowledgable older friend said "Don't buy Altered Beast. It's a load of censored!" I'm so glad I didn't listen to him. That's a controversial one! :P Each to their own (obviously!) but Altered Beast is one of the biggest heaps of toilet ever conceived imo. It has some cheesy charm ("POWAH U...

Re: The XBOX ONE / PS4 discussion thread

^^^ They just need to do it rather than trolling the fans! Kiryu would be a much better fit than Noctis or Negan...MUCH better. The Dragon of Dojima fighting style would fit into Tekken so well, and there are heaps of Heat actions and moves from the Rush/Beast modes to draw on.

More Steambot Chronicles. This is an addictive game with so much going on, and brilliant humour. Lost quite a few hours to it this afternoon without realising it!

Re: What's the most iconic retro game that's actually rubbish?

Agreed with the shouts for Golden Axe (and I love beat 'em ups). Love the fantasy/Conan-esque design but the gameplay is really clunky and boring. People love to hate on Golden Axe III, and claim that it was the worst in the series, but everything about it is a thousand times better than the much-ce...

Re: What games/consoles have you bought this week??

Had some Amazon vouchers so I finally got around to adding The Untold History of Japanese Game Developers Vol.3 to the bookshelf. First two volumes were fantastic, so I'm glad that all the remaining material used for Vol.3 didn't go to waste in the end.

Re: What are you currently playing?

Valkyria Revolution (PS4) - what a load of horrible poo! Dull, cliched ARPG that dumps everything that was great about the original trilogy. Could only stomach a few chapters before I'd had enough - was yawning and falling asleep! Thankfully, there is a proper VC4 so I'll have to pick that up next,...

Re: What are you currently playing?

Nearing the end of my Death by Degrees replay. Although there are several major annoyances, I've really been enjoying this all over again. It's never going to be a classic (based on the problems), but it's nowhere near as bad as the reviews made out back in the day. I've been playing the game on a N...

Re: Sega arcade mini

Revenge of Death Adder puts this on my radar. ABOUT TIME! Also, it has HDMI-out, so the small display isn't a major issue (if the physical controls don't turn you off). 36 games to be included though, and they're going to be arcade games so it shouldn't be loaded up with the same old crappy Mega Dri...
