Re: From the forum Issue 93

Super Mario RPG. It was a fantastic pairing of Nintendo and Square that gave us the spiritual predecessor to both the Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi games.

Another great issue. I love the price drop at the "newstands" here in the States.

Re: From the Forum Zelda Love

The two Oracle games have kept my interest the longest. Nothing beats having two great classic-style Zelda games that interact with each other via passwords. Hard to decide which of the two is better though.

Indeed, Light Crusader is a fun one that's worth the attention of Treasure fans.

Has the Ogre Battle series had any notable coverage?

With Tactics Ogre making a fantastic transition to the PSP, the near future seems as good as any for such a piece if it hasn't been done yet :D http://www.vgblogger.com/wp-content/uploads/Games/TacticsOgrePSP/TACTICS%20OGRE%20Screenshot%203.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4097/4818732807_bd346e61...

Has there been an Advance/Famicom Wars piece done before?

Not one that I'm aware of. They're all great games (except maybe the Game Boy Wars series) and I think it would make for a terrific read.

Love the cover. Glad I didn't get the Mana cover of Games TM's 100th issue. :D

Re: Super Castlevania - Best Boss

I really enjoy fighting Koranot, the golem boss at the end of stage 4. He shrinks as you damage him, making him a harder target to hit as the fight progresses. The falling rocks also add a frantic dose to the fight. I also get a laugh at how Koranot spelled backwards is "ton a' rok."

Re: Super Castlevania - Best 2D Castlevania

It may well be the first NES game. It was the spark for the series, and since Simon's moves were relatively simplistic, the focus revolved more around the great level design. I was fortunate enough to hold its world record completion time of 13:13 on Speed Demos Archive for nearly five years, and ca...

Re: For the forum issue 86

Monster Max on the Game Boy. With its fun perspective and heavy focus on puzzle solving, there really isn't any other game like it on Nintendo's monochrome handheld. And since it was developed by John Ritman and Bernie Drummond, it was like having a portable version of Head Over Heels!

Re: Super Castlevania - Best Level

Back in '91 or '92 I probably would've said stage 4 because of the way it tinkered with the hardware's mode-7 abilities and made you think that gravity itself was going awry. But these days it's the last stage that gives me the most enjoyment for its ability to keep me on the edge of my seat. Runnin...

Re: Super Castlevania - First Impressions

Elation probably sums it up best. Elation at how much atmosphere was simply dripping from the game. Elation at how my new Super Nintendo could display this kind of audio and visual quality. And elation at the thought that this was only the beginning of both a very good game and the lifespan of a ver...
