Re: Retro consoles on a 4ktv

It's definitely a consideration! I had thought of getting a CRT, but ideally you need a spare cupboard or something to wheel it into, and then you look up the description of a big-screen Sony Triniton on eBay: A very reasonable £25, but the description reads: "Bring a van and two strong men"!

Re: Is the Wii U still worth getting in 2019?

I'd add Zombie U to that list. It's available on other platforms, but the use of the Wii controller is excellent (as a map, looking in your bag, a camera etc.)

A really underrated survival horror game, and one not set in the US for once.

Re: What game have you COMPLETED this week

FINALLY finished Dead Cells. Although, it was after the patch, which everyone is commenting has made the game somewhat easier at base level.

Ah well .. after 14 attempts I finally beat the King's Hand (NO-ONE beats me 15 times in a row) :D

Re: Retro consoles on a 4ktv

Incidentally there is an article in this months Retro Gamer mag!

A couple of worthwhile suggestions there - although none of the wortwhile ones seem particularly cheap, and once you've added to the price of the Megadrive then you're getting towards the Analogue machine territory..

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion

Astral Chain was probably the highlight for me. Also liked the look of the new Castlevania and ofc the new Fire Emblem (although by the looks of things it's going to be some kind of Fire Emblem: Saved by the Bell edition, with all of them in high school? :) ) Also did laugh when the video transferre...

Ah you're right! Didn't they come out at similar times? (Which may be why I have confused the two)

Re: Favorite Video Game TV Commercial

Did like the one with the crowds chanting 'Mario' and the camera panned back to a picture of the earth, with people arranged to make Mario's face - think that was when the SNES came out in the UK? Not so much retro but FH3 made the hairs on my neck stand up when I saw it in the Cinema, the cover of ...

Re: What games/consoles have you bought this week??

Elite - awesome! My partner's dad fished out his old BBC Micro a while ago along with a copy of Starglider - sadly couldn't get the machine to do anything other than run some terrible old spreadsheet routines. Spotted a copy of Sonic the Hedgehog 1 (MD) for £2.50 from CEX, which I thought was very r...

Re: What are you currently playing?

Got killed by the final boss on Dead Cells for the last time (god-damnit! :D)

Taking a break by playing PS4 Doom - that game is just so much fun, and I love how it turned the FPS-standard on its head by forcing you to become aggressive to try and stay alive.

Re: Did you ever have to call a gaming helpline - and if so why?

Once. I called for help with Delta 4's The Boggit, as I just couldn't work out the phrase needed to do something early on. I might have got a bit tongue tied when I realised that I was speaking to Fergus McNeill himself, as the phone number was, I believe, for his house, and I'm pretty sure it was ...

Ah I read about this - definitely sounds intriguing.

Am a big fan of ambient electronica (and Kraftwerk, Digitalism etc.) so would be interested to see how this comes out.

Ummmm..

Hey folks Have just started building up a small collection of Megadrive games in lieu of the new Analogue ST machine coming out later in the year. Have been looking at Sega's 16-bit games for the first time in 25 years or so on the 'Bay, and have come across a few eye-openers! This is one of the bes...

Is it good fun? Seen it has had really good reviews - was either going to wait for the physical version or more likely lose patience and download!
