Re: Retro references in modern games

It's well known that most Namco racers (especially the Ridge Rcer series) love using references to the older games, and seem to include Galaga as a "loading screen" quite often.

Re: The Magic of the Gamecube Gameboy Player

Just been looking through the Wikipedia article, and decided to look around for the Hori Gamecube GB Player pad. Designed like a SNES pad, it looks great.

I want one now, but I can't afford it, lol...

Re: The Magic of the Gamecube Gameboy Player

Out of interest, I was wondering if any other games used GB Player support. I know that a few games offer 3 different colour pallettes (well, brightness modes, for the GBA classic, the SP and the GB Player), and the fact it's been posted about Pokemon Pinball's rumble support. Anyone know of any oth...

Ah well. It had been at least 2 years since I'd seen a copy og Commodore Format in my (dump of a) town before AA died.

A handful of SNES games that are missing from my collection, and a few pints down the pub would work for me...

Re: Is there too much Amstrad coverage in RG?

I also enjoyed the CPC series, although I didn't have one until the early to mid 90s. I even got Amstrad Action on a regular basis until the magazine died off - a couple of years after the C64 equivalent, might I add. My first conmputer would've been a C16 (Technically it was my sister's, but she ne...

Re: The Magic of the Gamecube Gameboy Player

The Metroid GBA games do show up well on a large screen, as does Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. The numbered FF games seem to suffer a bit on the upscale a little, however (mainly the text looking a lot rougher than it should) One thing I do feel is missing from the GB Player is the ability to use t...

Re: What games/consoles have you bought this week??

I got myself G-Police for the PS1 for £1. The case was a little bit bashed externally & no manual, but I do have spare cases that'll work well thanks to a local video shop selling off a load ages ago.

The important thing is that the discs looked like they'd hardly been used.

Re: Choices for issue 67

I'm going to have to go with Pilotwings. the first Flight sim that made the genre actually playable in a fun way for me.

I did play Beachhead on the CPC, but I never seemed to be able to last more than a minute or 2...

Re: Retro references in modern games

A load of classic sega tunes can also be played in the various Phantasy Star Online games (Episode 1 & 2 had music disks that would change the BGM, and Episode 3 has a music change machine in the online card lobbies) Mind you, it's well known many developers sneak references of their older games int...

Re: List all of the GOOD GameStations, yes?

It's a lot better than my town, where the ONLY shop that sells games is Blockbuster Video. You can guess what their retro support's like - non existent.

Only 2 good things about where I stay - The amount of Pubs, and the yearly Highland Games, where the best stuff happens - in the pubs..

Retro references in modern games

I know, it's not really that "retro" of a topic, but I'd like to see if people have noticed any new games referring to other classic games - especially ones from a different series. I've found a screenshot of the Master System Phantasy Star in Grand theft Auto : Vice City. I know it appears in the P...

Re: List all of the GOOD GameStations, yes?

I know that the Greenock Gamestation has some retro handheld stuff - Mostly GBA, but there's some classic GB & a couple of other formats in there, including a couple of Game Gear games.

Apart from that, it's just the usual Playstation pre-dualshock controllers & Eyetoy rubbish...
