Re: From The Forum Issue 142

I was never a big fan of shoot 'em ups, but for many years I had a soft spot for Sol Feace (also called Sol Peace and Sol Deace) for the MegaCD. I think it was because of the way you could power up your three (directionable) guns separately. I liked Project X for the Amiga too, although using space ...

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 140

I'm not being defensive. You''re accussing us of rigging a vote because you feel that two games which are seperate games should be included as one. You can polish up your words as much as you like, but you're essentially saying we cheated and that's offensive. I'm pretty sure they were both in the ...

Re: Discuss Time! Issue 141 Your first gaming purchase

Tough to think back that far. I remember my first Mastertronic budget purchase, Gnasher , a blocky Pac Man clone. But the earliest I can remember buying myself was Orbiter by Silversoft for the Spectrum, I remember both of these too! Gnasher I bought with pocket money from Forbuoys in Skelmersdale,...

Re: Discuss Time! Issue 141 Your first gaming purchase

The very first game I bought with my own actual money, was a copy of Haunted Hedges for the Spectrum. I'd received my Spectrum+ a couple of weeks before for my 6th birthday, and spent some birthday money on the game, which I bought from the Asda on the outskirts of Liverpool (the one on Ormskirk Roa...

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 140

And how much did you pay these readers to vote for Speedball 2 over SWOS? ;)

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 140

SWOS not Number 1? Rigged. Sham. Hang them all.

It has to be the best sports game because I hate all sports games. Except SWOS.

Oh, and Micro Olympics on the Speccy because if you had a ZX Printer you could print screenshots.

Re: From The Forum Issue 140

I first came across Lemmings on the Lindis (Lindus?) Bus. A double decker bus kitted out with Acorn and BBC computers that travelled round schools and computer shows, showing the educational merits of said machines. It appeared at Heartsease High School (now one of the very first of those infernal a...

I've had email contact from Jim's mum, Sue. She's thanked everyone for their kind comments here and elsewhere. I asked her if there was a charity she thought would be suitable for anyone who wishes to donate something in Jim's memory, and the NACC (http://www.nacc.org.uk/content/home.asp) was sugges...

RIP James (Jim) Langmead

It is with sadness that I'm posting this news, but I've just heard that James Langmead, who ran (amongst other things) Speccy Spoilers, has passed away. For the last few years, he suffered from Crohn's disease, and in the latter half of last year he was admitted to hospital where he spent several mo...

Re: From the forum question for issue 24

Because it is now so easy to enjoy all the games I read about but could never afford. Also, games only had gameplay to sell them in those days - graphics were functional not fantastic for most games (until the MD/SNES era at least), so gaming was more "pure". Run Baby Run for the Spectrum proves tha...

Re: Disappointed in lack of professionalism

I'm sure RG did not intend any malice, but I can understand why you'd be annoyed. In your position I'd be furious. I'm sure they didn't, which is why I'm posting here rather than getting the lawyers out :) Other magazines and websites have used my photos over the years, and I generally have no prob...

Disappointed in lack of professionalism

Blah blah long time reader, first time poster blah blah. I was reading through the "Retro Price Listings" in the magazine this morning, mainly to see if you'd missed out any machines. You have - the Timetop Gameking and the Aquarius, for instance. But that isn't my concern. My concern is that many o...
