Re: What's best: Cartridge, CD-ROM...or cassette??

Carts are best. Solid state reliability and speed. No moving parts.
Even PC users love a bit of SSD...

Wanted - Sega Game Gear for modding.

I'm on the look out for a couple of Sega Game Gears to use for a new modding project I'll be working on shortly.
Any old condition really but preferably working (although not essential, if its recoverable).

Hopefully I can get a few together and crack on :D

Cheers

Re: Game Gear

Another thought with regards to using LEDs as a backlight is that if they are pulsed in sync with the screen refresh rate then motion blur could be reduced by introducing a little dark time into each frame. This would be at the expense of brightness (depending on the dark time period) but increasing...

Re: Game Gear

The Game Gear is a pretty cool system. They feel pretty sturdy to hold. The only downsides for me are the motion blur and poor battery life. Mine had the dull screen and sound issues too, but again, replacing the caps worked a treat as has been mentioned. I bought a kit off Ebay and did it myself. C...

Re: Raspberry Pi

Late 80's, early 90's is pretty much the era I go for. As long as it can handle the likes of Raiden/R-Type/Final Fight/SF2, I'd be happy. As for the tiny arcade cabs, Prinny, they're quite a quirky novelty but a little too small  Suitable if I was a Primordial Dwarf perhaps. Nah, I'll stick ful...

Looks like composite lives on!

I'm interested in how well MAME works on the PI as I fancy making a bartop arcade with one.

Re: REVIVAL 2014 - 9th/10th August

Hopefully going to bob down this weekend (assuming I can pay on the door???). Oddly, its either this or sheep sheering in Angelsey  If I've not got a hang over in the morning I'll come tomorrow, otherwise it will be Sunday. So, my question: Will John Romero be around on Sunday? I'll try not to ...

Re: Favourite Arcade Racers?

There was an arcade racing game I used to love playing but I can't remember what it was called. You could choose a Mini and a Fiat 500 I think (definitely a Mini). It was in an Alpine setting, the tracks were all winding and the steering was really tight. What was it bloody called!....I'll have to ...

Re: Your fave 5th gen console

I'm not uptight, its just that its a forum, and its good to get some discussion and opinions fly about. Lots of people are voting and telling us why they felt the Saturn was the best, or the N64 or the Playstation. Would just be nice to hear someone who voted for the 3do. Fair enough  A...
