Re: Questions for Andrew Hewson

Back in the 80's why do you think the UK had the best in games developers compared to other countries?

Re: Blade Runner sequel

"Isn't it that film where it rains all the time?" said a school mate of mine back in the mid 80's. He didn't get it, so did a lot of people. I think I did in some way, because it happens to be one of my all time fav movies. I guess I watched it at a time when my young brain was very impressionable a...

Re: current gen and previous gen

C Most games are the same old just given a prettier makeover. Look at, for example, The Order for PS4 - real pretty console game but it's just a 2nd rate Gears of War knock off in terms of gameplay. The ancient Blade Runner on the PC was a more interesting and sophisticated game in that regard. I d...

Re: amiga comebacks

This reviving of amiga games is a bit lazy I think. Developers need to push the envelope a bit more and make games that would benefit where the 3d at the time wasn't quite up to the standard we are used to now. Some suggestions... Infestation - would probably work better now. A more detailed undergr...

Re: The Greatest ZX Spectrum Arcade Conversions

Looking back now at these lists, it's clear that the Speccy was indeed capable of running decent arcade ports providing that they didn't rely too much on custom gameplay trickery. It's worth noting that games like Bombjack, Green Beret and Bubble Bobble had Z80 chipsets to begin with. So some arcade...

The Greatest ZX Spectrum Arcade Conversions

The humble ZX speccy was put through its paces as it tried to emulate Arcade games from the 80's and early 90's. What is your top 10 for being a pretty faithful attempt? For me its; 1. Renegade 2. Chase HQ 3. Enduro Racer 4. Commando 5. Ping Pong by Imagine 6. Rampage 7. Indiana Jones & the Temple O...

Re: Hardware Film

Yes I agree the sex scenes were pointless - we know they are in love. The Terminator's sex scene was there to link the conception of John Connor.
It is based on a 2000AD story so it's begging for a remake....

Hardware Film

I picked this film up the other day on blu ray haven't not seen it for about 25 years. I found that the beginning was very much like Fallout New Vegas what with the decaying sci-fi tech, clothes and landscape as well as Iggy Pop doing a radio broadcast. (I wonder if that inspired the direction of th...

Re: The Greatest Games Of All Time

If someone told me Candy Crush is one of the greatest video games of all time I would personally post a censored through their letterbox. I agree but if sales and popularity were to be the deciding factor then I'm afraid you'd be posting a lot. By that logic Westlife are one of the greatest bands o...

Re: The Greatest Multiplayer games of all time

1. Chaos - What the game was designed for. How ruthless or merciful can you be to your fellow player? 2. Neo Turfmasters - Brilliant golf game that requires skill to beat the human opponents. 3. Winter Games - Gets a 10 from LEN! 4. Bruce Lee - Who gets to be Bruce v The Green Yamo? 5. Gauntlet - Pl...

Re: The Greatest Games Of All Time

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Candy Crush Saga. Yes I know it rips off Bejewelled but it totally changed mobile gaming in terms of sales and marketing and it really got in with mass culture. It got downloaded by about a Zillion girls and lads and we haven't seen video gaming popularity like tha...

Re: Which book(s) are you currently reading?

just finished Ready Player One, and Without Warning. Ready Player One is a brilliant nostalgia trip back to the 80's, I think most on here would enjoy it. Without Warning is an action packed sci-fi/military/apocalyptic page turner, really good book, a bit like Clancy but not as technical and with m...
