Re: green beret zx ladders question

The ladders riddle has been solved! It appears that the tap.rom image that I downloaded sometime in the late 1990's was to blame. I don't know whether it's been poked to do that, or maybe it's just some bizarre bug originating from the early days of emulation. However, I downloaded the tzx hitsquad ...

Re: Issue 156

Good issue, any issue covering Outrun is a must have for me.

Another clown you could have mentioned in the Mr Do! article is Kid Clown on the SNES.

Re: Which do you prefer : Monkey Island 1 or 2

Really enjoyed playing monkey island on xbox360. Found it humorous and not too difficult though the ending for me was a little silly - getting kicked about. I think in true monkey island style the girl you were attempting to rescue should have killed lechuck making your many hours of adventuring a w...

Re: green beret zx ladders question

Yes i fully agree. Ive just watched the youtube video which now begs the question why doesnt my version do that? Im guessing its the emu at fault and yet was a version released in from 1986 that had that bug and was corrected later? i doubt it but still i seem to recall in the mists of the 80s not b...

Re: green beret zx ladders question

No i believe he has omitted that game play element. On level 1 jump at a ladder and he clings to it. Do this on the ladders on the harbour stage and he doesnt. Play the game and you will see. Now i did play it on an emu so maybe thats why but if some one does own an original speccy and the game mayb...

green beret zx ladders question

Having not experienced the speccy version of green beret for many many years i loaded it up and something struck me - you cant go up the ladders on level 2 & 3. No wonder it was rock hard to beat! Is this (id say a major gameplay over sight) a bug because you can on level 1? Or did the programmer ru...

Re: The Greatest Games Of All Time

I was an impressionable kid when the 8-bit era was in full swing but since then, I've experienced many truly great games from the 16-bit era right up to today (Many are actually in the top 150). I suppose the bottom line is as long as a game entertains me like it's suppose to, then I'm not bothered ...

So basically if you come across one without any saves it's going to be worth even more money.

Re: The Greatest Games Of All Time

A fair point, this is probably more like 'the most popular games of all time' since as you say, there are many great games that are potentially better than those in the list that just didn't gain the popularity for mass recognition and thus votes. A bit like how Bohemian Rhapsody and Imagine always...

Re: The Greatest Games Of All Time

I did find the top 150 greatest games result a bit disappointing. Some good entries but it wouldn't be my top 150. What I have noticed is that although it was a public vote I couldn't help but wonder if RG has somehow influenced the votes with their informative articles over the last 10 years. The t...

Re: Top Ten Game Boy Advance games

My top ten; 1 Manic Miner - nice portable conversion & I never forgot my ZX roots and I have probably played Mathew Smith's Scrabble the most on my GBA even though its a gameboy color game. 2 Yoshi's Island 3 Virtual Kasparov - I needed a portable chess game 4 Super Ghouls N Ghosts - Hard but classi...

Re: Doctor Who Community Buzzing With Rumours

He's giving that a well practiced rub, isn't he  Saturday's episode was dire, just very, very boring. A simple idea worn out in the first few minutes so the rest of the episode dragged to the point the final exclamation was just sort of 'meh', I stopped caring. That's why the next doctor will ...

Re: From The Forum issue 150 - Best Birthday Presents

In 1981 I was given Grandstand's Munchman which is def the best present I've ever had because it was the start of my home video gaming experience. The only thing that annoyed me at the time was having to wait a full junior school day before I could play the damn thing.

Re: Your Most Iconic Amazing Moment of all time

That "tears in rain" speech at the end of Bladerunner. Still moves me to this day. I was only 15 when I first saw that scene and it made me realize that life isn't forever, we only get one life to experience things so make the most of it.

Re: What cover would make you...

I think the best covers have been done - Ourun, Pacman, Ultimate Play The Game. Perhaps Strider? Has that been done yet? I do think the GBA needs to be covered now. The games are no longer being released in the high street shops like GAME - only the 2nd hand ones stock them and even then the cartrid...
