Re: From The Forum issue 166 - First Amiga Encounters

Would have been about 1995 when we went to my brothers girlfriends house for a BBQ. Her brother was playing games on a PC that to me looked like a fat version of our Commodore 64/128 and as he was playing Pacmania on it I was blown away by those smooth scrolling 3D graphics. Was probably one of the ...

Re: Bookazines / Specials

A PlayStation bookazine plus a possible arcade edition and I'm only hearing about these now!?? I need to get on here more often as those are my 2 favourite platforms... Darren and the rest of the RG: crew a Bookazine (or two) full of arcadey goodness would sell like hot cakes, I'd pre-order if that ...

Re: From the forum issue 146 - Neo Geo

First contact with anything to with Neo-Geo was seeing those flashy full page adverts for the upcoming 3DO release of Samurai Showdown in the first gaming magazine I'd ever bought (Electronic Gaming Monthly) back around late 1994. 2nd contact 1996-ish watching the attract screens and briefly playing...

Raiden DX arcade: Shoot'em up perfection in my eyes.

With Galaga (arcade) River Raid (C64) and 1945kIII (MAME) all equal seconds in that race

Re: Discuss Time! Issue 140 Retro Bargains

for me my number 1 was an event that happened back in 2001 which coincidently was the key moment in my life which set off my hobbie/habit/addiction for collecting and playing retro games: October-ish 2001 i found then swiftly bought (kept & cherished to this day) from a Salvation Army Charity Shop m...

Re: From The Forum issue 139 - Your favourite failure

For me it's the mighty Panasonic 3DO. The first 32Bit disc based console released in Australia and also the first disc based video game machine I had ever seen and played, with Super Street Fighter II Turbo looking so clean, fast and arcadey. Not only that though, it holds a special place in my hear...

Re: Discuss Time! Issue 139

I'm an avid handheld gamer for sure, getting out my DSi-XL at least on 3 bus trips home a week on my way home from work and that pint-sized console of awesomeness will come with me on every holiday and holiday related bus/train/plane trip. My main motivation for bringing it with me is the constant s...

For me its Skull Monkeys on PS1. Beautiful smooth claymation, imaginative game play and who can resist a game where there's a button to make the Main character fart through his head =D

Re: Feature Request - Music Games

"Music" and "Music 2000" on the Playstation - more utilities than games but still fun. I used to spend hours and hours fine tuning tracks I'd made on Music2000 on the trusty (yet only worked upside down by that stage) PS1, I still have about 10 completed tracks on 2 old memory cards.. I really shou...

Re: Games you've bought but not played yet

Always test for minumum of 5 minutes after buying a retro-game.. though I am yet to test and play through the Limited Edition Shadow of the Colossus for my PS2. Cannot wait for the day(s) I do get to play through it.

Re: From the forum issue 111

Have only played a PC-Engine once! At ByteBack in Stoke-on-Trent in 2009 - Naturally R-Type was on display so I gave it handful of runs and it just blew me away how close it was to the Arcade version I'd played so much before
