Re: From The Forum issue 183 - Tetris: Best puzzler ever?

Tetris is not a puzzle game, there's nothing to solve, it's a twitch reaction arcade game. But in term of "Tetris style" games, there's been like a billion clones each trying to add their own (Dr) Spin to proceedings. Although there are some interesting variations, most of the gimmicks are pretty un...

Re: Spectrum Vega Plus Poll

Oh but it would be so worth it to have Matt Allwright to chase them down the road & shout ineffectual questions that they can't even hear as they drive off ignoring him. Then follow it up with some cack pun like "huh more like a Vega MINUS" before eventually cutting back to the studio to interview s...

Re: Video game documentaries?

Started watching the Video Game years on Amazon...didn't last very long, I don't think this one is for me.

I see that Atari one is also on Prime, will have to give that a watch later.

Re: Spectrum Vega Plus Poll

The whole thing has been a sh*tshow from very early on. It seems to have lead to so much bitterness in the Spectrum community & it's not a lot of fun any more & has tainted any trust in similar projects. As successful as the Spectrum Next has been, I can't help thinking there'd be more enthusiasm fo...

Re: What Films/TV Have you Watched Recently?

Watched the Blair Witch reboot tonight.

An hour and a half of people running about in the dark with torches & shaky cams shouting each others names. Not sure why I expected anything different. Not great.

Re: From The Forum 182: What's your favourite Mega Drive game

Holy Hellfire, where do you start? I could list a couple of dozen and still miss a favourite.

I'll go for Toejam & Earl, it was a huge part of my early teens, so original & fun and it turns out that Greg Johnson is one of the nicest guys in the uniworld.

SaGa article.

Screenshot says "Lots of weirdos are hanging around in the cafe."

RG Caption reads "thats odd we usually find them in canteens".

Re: Zzap64 Annual kickstarter now open

That Crash annual was a textbook case of how to run a Kickstarter properly.

Great product, sensible tiers, really well thought out stretch goals & delivery on time.

Instantly backed, even if it is commode 64 based!

Re: What Films/TV Have you Watched Recently?

Happy is now on my watchlist.

Will watch Infinity War at some point, I get some enjoyment out of the Marvel films but they are always overlong & instantly forgettable so all the back references & nuances are completely lost on me.

Re: What Films/TV Have you Watched Recently?

Santa Clarita Diet truly is amazing television, It's made me love Drew Barrymore quite a bit.

The kids' bedtimes are getting later so I haven't watched a decent horror film in yonks. Really itching for a good supernatural type yarn along the lines of the Conjuring or Sinister.

Re: Bubble Bobble - The Perfect Game?

Reassuring to see it being highly regarded. Good shouts for Pac man & Tetris too! I think the older I get the more I appreciate pick up & play games that you don't have to waste a lot of time learning new moves so you can just dive right in. I love Parasol Stars too, but it wasn't as widely ported. ...

Re: Pandemonium! (PSOne/PC)

I remember seeing this running on an N-gage, it was astounding to see something like this running on a handheld in about 2003 or whenever it was & it's what convinced me to buy one...so it's got q lot to answer for!!!

Bubble Bobble - The Perfect Game?

I've always had the theory & probably mentioned it on here before, but hell, It's pretty quiet these days so here goes: Bubble Bobble is the ultimate videogame. * Easy to play, just 4 commands: left, right, jump & fire. * Difficult to master; ruddy LOADS of levels. * The graphics are cute as hell wi...

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion

I really like the Wii U & still get quite a bit of play out of it.

The Switch seems to have been pretty popular in comparison, but I've seen nothing bar a small handful of slightly enhanced/updated versions of games to convince me to get a Switch.
