Re: Subscriptions Queries

Hi, just received issue 148 and only now realised I didn't get issue 147. Is it still possible to get it?

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 143

I enjoyed Master of Darkness on Game Gear. Trying to remember if I managed to complete it! I might have to dig the Game Gear out and see if it still works!

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 129

I enjoyed the Driver article, loved the game when it came out. I never really understood the complaints about the initial car park level, I found it to be something of a trainer level - you could practice it and learn how to handle the car, then do it for real. If you couldn't manage it, you weren't...

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 128

Nice to see a mention of Croc - a game I played, enjoyed and finished back in the day. I do remember the camera was very dodgy at times, but there were some nice hidden bonus levels if you could find them. Is it just me that's surprised that issue 128 doesn't have anything relating to systems with 1...

Re: From the forum issue 125 - Favourite movie licence

I remember standing in the shop (I think it was WH Smith's) watching people playing Ghostbusters (on a C64) and thinking how amazing it looked so I bought it (I had a Spectrum). Even though it wasn't quite as good I still thought it was fantastic, but at school on Monday morning I was told it was a ...

Re: Retro Gamer Issue 123

Favourite article was the Stonkers one. I loved that game! Have to say I'm sad to see Iain Lee go. I remember when he first started writing in the magazine and I thought 'Why is that guy who used to be on the telly writing in Retro Gamer', but nearly every month what he wrote struck a chord with me....

Re: Feature Request - Music Games

Wham! The Music Box on the Spectrum. I used to spend hours trying to make half-decent sounding tunes. I should dig out my Spectrum and see if my old tapes will still load, and find out just how bad they sound these days!

Re: From the forum issue 114 Platformers

Croc on the Playstation. One of those games that turned up as a demo on a magazine disc and was good enough to go and buy. It was out when Nintendo had Mario 64 which I'll admit was better! But, it was an enjoyable game which was good to play, a bit challenging at times (including an annoying camera...

Re: Retro Gamer Issue 111 - Feedback Thread

Nice to see my old school friend Barry Leitch finally making it into Retro Gamer. I remember when he was starting out with computer music (the days of the 'Chicken Song' and a rather nice C64 version of 'Bat Out of Hell') then one day he didn't come back to school and the rest is history!

Re: From the Forum issue 113 Amiga

Never had one personally, but a friend's brother had one and it was the first place I saw Microprose F1GP, so I'd have to say that. The first step (if I don't count Revs!) of an incredible series.

Re: From the forum issue 109

While I loved Jetpac (it just went on and on and on!) probably Atic Atac. Fantastic smooth animation and having different secret passages for each character gave it real longevity and a feeling of 'three games in one'.

Loved the Astro Wars article - I remember a mate of mine had it and I thought it was amazing at the time. I had CGL's Galaxy Invader 1000, which sadly I left at my parents' house and was 'disposed of' during a house move. I bet the price of Astro Wars and other similar games go through the roof on e...

Re: 'retro' films you think people should see...

Some great shouts in this thread already, notably Forbidden Planet, Sleuth and Salem's Lot. I have to add 'The Wicker Man' 1973 with Edward Woodward. (Don't even mention the Cage 'remake') Saw it for the first time while working a nightshift in the early nineties and was stunned. The director's cut,...

Re: Much more DOS and old PC gaming coverage please!!

I'd be interested to see a Retro Gamer article on the PC game Grand Prix Legends, released in 1998 (that must be retro?!!?) Given the game was based on 1967 Formula 1 (retro!) and is now 14 years old itself, it must qualify? I bought my first PC in 1998, made sure the spec was good enough to run it ...
